LES ROCHES ROUGES

An exquisite beachside hotel in Saint-Raphaël. The boutique group Les Hôtels d’en Haut teamed up with Paris-based design firm Festen revamped the 50s style escape. The hotel will reopen this April. The modern suites all have a sweeping balcony and a plush Italian bed. They have an alluring natural seawater swimming pool that has been carved into the coastal rock. The hotel has two fantastic restaurants. La Terrasse is one Michelin-starred restaurant run by chef José Bailly’s whose inventive menu offers regional dishes with a unique twist. For a more casual, beach dining experience, La Plage offers typical and seasonal Provençal dishes, all made with local ingredients.

Les Roches Rouges is known for the adventurous collaborations it gives guests access to. It starts with the ambiance the hotel creates of the Riviera using the talents of antique sellers, garden designers, sound artists and architects to bring to the history of the Côte d’Azur to the present. For example, sound producer Victor Kiswell has created a sun-drenched selection of background music for your stay.

As the day progresses, classic sixties New York jazz evolves into bossa nova and samba, with each soundtrack carefully tailored to the variety of dazzling spaces. The hotel has a colony of young contemporary artists who used to install fine art that compliments to stunning views. They employ Côte d’Azur locals to take guests sea fishing, diving along the coast, and wandering by foot or bike up the rugged mountain paths. The Var is a land of plenty where asparagus, strawberries, olives, grapes and tomatoes flourish. Their chefs use a network of small producers and fishermen who deliver their bounty daily to the hotel.

LA DIVINE COMÉDIE

A five-room wellness hotel in Avignon it is known for having a splendid secret garden, the largest private garden in Avignon. Within the garden, you can find a delightful swimming pool and a luxurious wellness center the hotel is known for. The space is filled with rescued church relics, hand-painted screens, rich fabrics, and crystal chandeliers. Each room has a name that is tied to its unique interior design. VILLAGE CASTIGNO

Located in Assignan right in the middle of Saint-Chinian wine country. The owners, Tine and Marc Verstraete, use their lifetime in film production to decorate the hotel with wine-toned interiors and delightful, quirky details: jeroboams filled with flickering candles, contemporary art alongside ancient missals on the walls, Moorish lanterns, and silk-swathed four-poster beds. The hotel also boasts a lovely swimming pool and incredible suites scattered around the property. If you choose to stay at the Villa Rouge four guests will get to experience a private pool and garden.

What Village Castgino is really known for is its incredible diversity of gastronomy and wine experiences. It has three heavenly restaurants on its grounds with La Table being its one Michelin starred jewel. The restaurant offers continually renewed haute cuisine. La Petite Table is a bistro and café popular bistro that offers comfort food and a remarkably sun-filled terrace. Lastly, Le Thai is located in an adorable village house and gives a distinctly Asian ambiance with its delectable food and décor.

In terms of the tempting wine adventures you can take advantage of, Castgino offers visits to their wine cellar, La Cave, and five organic Chateau Castigno Wine tasting with a 180° view on their vineyards. They also give guests the opportunity to go on a tempting picnic of gourmet food, winemaking classes and a wine safari to learn about the Domains of Assignan.

MUSE

Located just outside of Saint Tropez and is inspired by the daughters of Zeus. Each muse that embodied a different art and inspired creativity. It is a chic bespoke retreat that reflects architectural simplicity and splendor as it is in the heart of an award-winning ecological and self-sustainable garden designed by acclaimed landscape artist, Sophie Agata Ambroise. Three acres of self-sustainable gardens with 160 varieties of flora and fauna and an elegant pool. It has a poolside bar and cabanas to allow complete serenity.

The MUSE suites are what make the hotel truly unique with each one being dedicated to legendary muses. The luxuriously equipped suites are individual in décor and ambiance with some containing a plunge pool and private gardens. Beds are all uniquely custom-made by Henryot, one of France’s oldest manufacturers who used to create furniture for the royal court at Versailles.

All suites are designed in soft earthy tones with cool stone floors and Marmorino wall finishes. LA VILLA MAURESQUE

Located in Boulouris, a beautiful picturesque village on the seafront just 30 minutes from Cannes and Saint Tropez. La Villa Mauresque was built in 1881 by Chapoulard, the Architect renowned for his Moorish villas in the Côte d’Azur. Its sumptuously designed suites offer incredible views, private terraces, and hot tubs. Their Mediterranean restaurant, Le Bougainvillier is located on a sweeping terrace and boasts fresh fish caught that very morning in front of the hotel, then put on your plate 4 hours later.

La Villa Mauresque offers multiple lush indoor and outdoor facilities dedicated to well-being, relaxation and water sports. So even in winter, you can enjoy saunas and jacuzzis with a dazzling sea view. They have two outdoor pools, one of which is infinity style and offers an unparalleled ocean view. You can also take a soak in a jacuzzi or delight in one of their various massage treatments with an ocean view or from the privacy of their hotel room. VILLA BAULIEU

A Tuscan house in the heart of Pays d’Aix suites enjoying soaring views of the Alpilles and Saint-Victoire mountains and was originally owned by Henry III in 1576. The rooms will transport you into the castle’s past with four-poster beds and handsome antiques. The delightful cuisine is served at Table d’hôte meals by butlers. Guests can either enjoy a traditional French meal or get meals prepared by a Michelin-starred chef for 10 dinners or more. The estate has both a relaxing pool in its gardens and a peaceful jacuzzi on the deck of it spa. Other treatments include massage and sauna experiences.

Baulieu also has an exquisite vineyard inside the crater of Provence’s only volcano. The estate’s geography and excellent soil quality have created the ideal conditions for making exceptional wines. They create both exceptional red, rosé and white wines. A long-time proponent of integrated agriculture, the grounds boast almond and truffle groves that beautify the landscape.

On the estate, the cavage, truffle hunting, is carried out by a Border Collie dog specially trained for the job. A hundred hives dot the almond grove through the year and bees produced honey for the first time in 2018.
