FENDI SPRING/SUMMER 2025: A CENTURY OF ELEGANCE REIMAGINED, BLENDING BOUDOIR SPIRIT WITH ART DECO-INSPIRED DESIGNS, THIS COLLECTION CELEBRATES FLUIDITY, SENSUALITY, AND TIMELESS LUXURY.

Fendi Spring/Summer 2025 collection this Milan Fashion Week takes us on a journey through time, celebrating the house’s centenary with an homage to the 1920s. Creative director Kim Jones blends the elegance of this iconic era with a boudoir spirit, resulting in a collection that is both sensual and sophisticated. Entitled “Since 1925,” this collection embodies the invisible thread connecting the brand’s founding ethos to the whispered luxury of today, showcasing a wardrobe that is at once refined and effortless.

The show opens with a transparent tunic, adorned with Art Deco motifs, signaling a reverence for Fendi’s origins in the roaring twenties. This collection is a nod to the brand’s inception in 1925, the same year as the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, which marked the rise of Art Deco. Jones delves into this era, evoking its modernism in both form and thought. The silhouettes embrace the dropped waists, crystal detailing, and hemline fringing synonymous with the 1920s, gradually evolving into the cinched-waist pencil skirts and pressed-collar shirt dresses of the 1940s.

Fendi Spring/Summer 2025 collection radiates a boudoir spirit with its powdery, skin-colored tones and fluid movements. Kim Jones juxtaposes delicate pieces with more structured garments, striking a balance between sensuality and sophistication. Think shirtdresses that double as classic shirts over dresses, tank tops worn backward with straps cascading down the legs, and gathered shirts belted like jackets. The collection is a masterclass in understated elegance, where the simplest items—tank tops, t-shirts, and straight skirts—are elevated through the interplay of textures and layers.

The collection also explores the dialogue between day and evening wear. Everyday basics like trench coats, knitwear, and straight skirts mingle with richly decorated silk and organza pieces. Layers of transparent tulle tunics, embroidered with Art Deco designs, drape over sober undergarments. A black apron skirt paired with a fine printed silk dress or long coats over micro-knit outfits embody the collection’s essence of layering and fluidity.

Kim Jones is meticulous in his attention to construction. The collection features structured velvet coats with kimono sleeves, belted with ribbon to resemble bathrobes, adding a sense of intimacy to the runway. These details are a nod to Fendi’s heritage of craftsmanship and innovation. Hand-embroidered flowers and leaves in pearls, sequins, and silver grace the garments, offering a tactile experience that echoes the brand’s dedication to artistry.

The shoes further this narrative of understated luxury. Comfortable lace-up walking shoes accompany the outfits, grounding the ethereal nature of the garments with practicality. This juxtaposition of fluidity and structure, casualness and elegance, defines the collection’s unique aesthetic.

Set against the backdrop of an immense white space, the models paraded with a natural and disheveled look, accompanied by the delicate notes of neoclassical music by Max Richter. The voices of Anna and Silvia Fendi, daughter and granddaughter of founder Adele Fendi, interweave with the show, paying tribute to the brand’s heritage and its century-long journey. “She liked to get as close to beauty as possible,” Anna recalls, echoing the spirit of the collection—a celebration of timeless beauty and femininity.

Jones’s approach to this collection is not nostalgic but reflective of how women wear clothes today. He captures the essence of Fendi’s evolution, from its roots in the 1920s to its contemporary expression. “Movement, lightness, excellence, and ease” are the cornerstones of this collection, emphasizing a wardrobe designed for modern life. It’s a fusion of the past and present, where each piece is crafted to live in the now.

As Fendi prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary, this collection stands as a testament to the house’s enduring influence. From Art Deco detailing to era-defining ensembles, the Fendi Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a reminder of the brand’s legacy of elegance, craftsmanship, and whispered luxury.
