From Runway Shows to Artful Screenings, Here’s What to Expect at LAFW 2024

Los Angeles Fashion Week (LAFW) returns this November, bringing a tighter, three-day format to Hollywood’s W Hotel. From November 13 to 15, LAFW 2024 will showcase themes of innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity in fashion. Produced by N4XT Experiences, this season’s lineup includes six runway shows, curated presentations, artful screenings, and insightful panels.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS EDITION

The Blue Jacket Show opens LAFW on November 13. Founded by designer Frederick Anderson and Laura Miller, this event raises awareness for prostate cancer. Now, it arrives on the West Coast. Expect artists and models in striking blue jackets for an unforgettable night.

Later, Rio Uribe will debut his new label, Rio World. Known for supporting body diversity, Uribe’s show will set the tone for inclusive fashion. The show will end with a party hosted by Galore magazine.

On November 14, BruceGlen returns to LAFW with their “Out of the Blue” collection. Known for bold hues, twin brothers Bruce and Glen Proctor mix their signature style with a burst of color. They share the stage with Private Policy, a genderless New York brand redefining fashion.

The same evening, Ed Hardy’s comeback takes the spotlight, led by creative director Kevin Christiana of Project Runway fame. Iconic in the early 2000s, Ed Hardy’s tattoo-inspired style brings excitement and nostalgia to LAFW.

LAFW wraps up on November 15 with a show by The Blonds. Known for high-octane glamour, their designs promise a dose of Hollywood luxury. It’s the perfect way to end the week.

LAFW 2024 also offers exclusive presentations. This year’s lineup includes Tribute Brand, a digital fashion pioneer; Sergio Hudson, an LA-based designer; Borden, a Canadian label by Eugene Marshall; and Lost Daze, a streetwear favorite.

LAFW: FASHION, CULTURE, AND MORE

This season, LAFW celebrates diverse voices and global cultures. Two standout brands—Head of State (HOS) and House of Aama—showcase unique perspectives. HOS, founded by Taofeek Abijako, explores modern African culture. House of Aama, led by Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka, dives into Black history through nostalgic designs and timeless styles.

Beyond the runway, LAFW offers screenings exploring fashion history. See a documentary on designer Bob Mackie, famous for Cher’s iconic looks, or a tribute to photographer Bill Cunningham. Plus, don’t miss a signing of The Battle of Versailles, a book on the 1973 showdown between French and American designers.

Nike, the main sponsor, adds an interactive edge. Join in for morning workouts, DIY workshops, and fitness-meets-fashion events. Finally, for those ready to celebrate, brands like Theophilio, Tombogo, The Blonds, Rio World, and Maisie Wilen host nightly after-parties.
