January 21, 2025 – F/W Fashion Trends 2026 Men- Milan Fashion Week

Milan Men’s Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026 unveiled a season rooted in storytelling. Designers drew inspiration from history, craftsmanship, and nostalgia to shape the evolving identity of menswear. Rich textures, impeccable tailoring, and thoughtful details converged to craft a wardrobe that feels both timeless and contemporary. Each collection carried its own narrative—reviving classic tailoring, embracing functional elegance, and channeling the glamour of Italian style.

Picture the intersection of luxury and practicality with minimalist silhouettes. Imagine the drama and elegance of Italian cinema’s golden age. Visualize the sophistication of aristocratic tailoring. Here’s how these trends came to life on the Milan runway.

Modern Aristocracy:

Rooted in the principles of classic tailoring, Modern Aristocracy celebrates a renewed appreciation for timeless silhouettes, luxurious materials, and a sophisticated approach to menswear. Drawing inspiration from aristocratic elegance, this trend reintroduces the grace and grandeur of traditional menswear, reimagined to suit the sensibilities of the modern man.

Leading this sartorial revival is Simon Holloway’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection for Dunhill, a masterful embodiment of heritage tailoring with a contemporary twist. Inspired by the Duke of Windsor’s iconic wardrobe, the English drape suit—a hallmark of the Duke’s style—takes center stage but is reinvented with updated construction. Holloway eliminates traditional bulk, replacing it with feather-light cashmere and flannel fabrics that retain structure while enhancing fluidity. This innovative approach signals a shift toward softer, more adaptable tailoring.

Tartan emerges as a defining motif, appearing in lightweight coats, blazers, and interior linings. Highlights include bonded lambskin spy coats with tartan linings and head-to-toe speckled tweed ensembles. The collection’s earthy, regal tones—led by forest green—evoke the landscapes of Britain’s countryside. Muted grays and warm cognac tones complement this palette, grounding the collection in a sense of understated luxury and timelessness.

Minimalist Utility:

Minimalist Utility is a growing trend this season, emphasizing high-quality materials and a natural, muted color palette. This movement aligns with a broader shift toward timeless, versatile menswear. The trend stands out in collections that prioritize comfort and craftsmanship while maintaining an effortless sense of luxury—exemplified by Tod’s Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection.

Creative Director Matteo Tamburini reimagines wardrobe staples with Pashmy leather, an innovative material that balances the softness of pashmina with the durability of fine leather. The collection’s palette is rooted in earthy tonessand, tobacco, and burnt ochre—evoking natural warmth and understated sophistication. Key pieces include Pashmy bomber jackets and shirt-style coats, where the buttery texture transforms traditional designs into modern essentials, perfectly encapsulating the season’s trend of understated opulence.

Tod’s iconic Gommino moccasin returns in this collection, reinterpreted in Pashmy leather alongside robust boots from the W.G. (Winter Gommino) line. These pieces seamlessly align with the season’s emphasis on practical yet polished designs.

The Mystique of Italian Cinema’s Golden Age:

Rooted in the timeless allure of mid-20th-century Italian film culture, this trend draws heavily from the elegance, drama, and sophistication synonymous with iconic movies. It captures the glamorous essence of Italian celebrities, directors, and paparazzi during the golden age of cinema. It’s a celebration of nostalgia, spotlighting impeccable tailoring, luxurious textures, and classic color palettes, while injecting contemporary elements to keep it relevant for today’s audience.

This trend thrives on opulent materials like velvet, silk, and cashmere, paired with cinematic touches such as faux fur and dramatic embellishments. Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection encapsulates the magic and mystique of Italian cinema’s golden age. Drawing inspiration from Federico Fellini’s masterpiece La Dolce Vita, the collection is a nostalgic yet modern homage to the era when paparazzi were synonymous with celebrity glamour. Aptly titled “Paparazzi,” the collection is a masterclass in timeless sophistication.

Elegant, timeless black suits set the tone, with highlights such as a three-piece velvet suit featuring wide Wall Street-style lapels and polished piping, evoking an opulent boardroom-meets-Hollywood aesthetic. A double-breasted shawl-collared jacket paired with a Donegal tweed-inspired gray cashmere suit added a refined twist. Faux fur—exclusively used as a sustainable reinterpretation of classic styles—took center stage in the form of mink-inspired vests, fox-like coats, and beaver-style peacoats. These pieces were layered over statement tailoring, creating a bold juxtaposition of textures that felt both nostalgic and contemporary. Faux fur not only addressed sustainability but also amplified the drama, aligning perfectly with the cinematic theme.

The collection’s predominantly black-and-white foundation was punctuated by rich fabrics and tonal variations. The classic palette was elevated with luxurious materials like velvet and cashmere, exuding depth and sophistication. Fine details, such as triple-strass buttons on Nehru jackets and wide silk barathea waistbands on trousers, showcased the designers’ meticulous attention to craftsmanship. Playful elements, including jaunty striped pajama-style ensembles, with a touch of irreverence, perfectly capture the carefree spirit of La Dolce Vita.
