A Sculptural Watch Merging Roman Jewelry And Avant-Garde Horology In Three Striking Editions

April 20, 2025- Luxury Watches – Bvlgari X MB&F, The Serpenti

Luxury Watches - Bvlgari X MB&F - The Serpenti

Where does the serpent go next? Straight into the hands of Bvlgari and MB&F, who reshape the iconic Serpenti, born in 1948, into a machine of modern desire. This new collaboration channels two creative universes: Bvlgari’s bold jewelry legacy and MB&F’s mechanical experimentation.

Design: Biomorphic, Complex, Alive

Look closely at the case: five sapphire crystals, fluid curves, and angles precisely cut to expose the reptilian architecture beneath. It took hundreds of 3D sketches and prototypes to capture this form. Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bvlgari’s watch design director, calls it “a sculptural challenge,” where every line serves the serpent’s organic identity — a wink, too, to automotive inspiration.

Inside beats a hand-wound movement crafted by MB&F. It shows hours and minutes on two aluminum domes, designed as hypnotic snake eyes. One rotates every 12 hours, the other every 60 minutes. A 14 mm floating balance wheel — the serpent’s “brain” — pulses visibly, while a 45-hour power reserve indicator peeks through the sapphire back.

Editions: Three Limited, Tactile Choices

The Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti comes in three 33-piece editions:

  • Titanium: Grade 5 case, blue domes, blue rubber strap.
  • Rose Gold: 18k gold case, green domes, matching ardillon buckle.
  • Black PVD Steel: PVD-treated steel, red domes.
All glow at night thanks to Super-LumiNova indexes.

This is a collision of two visions. Maximilian Büsser, MB&F’s founder, says the goal was to create “a true horological machine,” not just a jeweled timepiece. Together, they push the Serpenti beyond its classic elegance, turning it into a contemporary object of kinetic art.

For collectors, it’s a rare chance to own a piece that rewrites watchmaking history — tactile, audacious, and engineered to seduce.
