The New Guard Takes the Stage as Paris Shapes Fashion’s Next Moves.
September 23, 2025- Paris Fashion Week SS26
The Spring/Summer 2026 season of Paris Fashion Week, running September 29 to October 7, marks one of the most significant creative resets in recent memory. An unprecedented wave of creative-director debuts features Jonathan Anderson at Dior, Matthieu Blazy at Chanel, and Pierpaolo Piccioli at Balenciaga, anchoring a reconfigured schedule. Saint Laurent opens the week, Louis Vuitton shifts to a rare daytime show, and new labels like Ganni and Julie Kegels join the official calendar. This is the new guard, and this is where fashion turns next.
The Debuts:
This season’s lineup of debutantes is nothing short of spectacular, a game of creative musical chairs with stakes higher than ever. All eyes will be glued to the runways as these visionaries present their inaugural visions for the world’s most storied houses.
The season’s hottest ticket is, without question, Matthieu Blazy’s first collection for Chanel on October 6. Following his universally acclaimed work at Bottega Veneta, the industry is breathless to see how his intellectual yet sensual approach to craft will translate to the most iconic codes in fashion.
In a staggering feat of creative energy, Jonathan Anderson presents his highly anticipated debut for Dior Women’s on October 1, all while continuing his transformative work at Loewe. Expect a masterclass in elegance and historical reference.
The energy continues with Miguel Castro Freitas (a former Margiela prodigy) taking the helm at Mugler; Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez bringing their downtown NYC cool to Loewe; and Glenn Martens applying his architectural deconstruction to Maison Margiela.
Perhaps the most intriguing move is Pierpaolo Piccioli’s grand return to the spotlight at Balenciaga on October 4. After his glorious, color-saturated reign at Valentino, his take on Demna’s austere universe promises a profound philosophical shift.
The Schedule Shake-Ups:
The traditional rhythm of the week has been delightfully disrupted. Saint Laurent jolts the week awake by opening the entire Fashion Week with a show at the Trocadéro on day one, a major power move. In another significant shift, Louis Vuitton has abandoned its traditional closing slot for a rare daytime show at the Louvre on October 7. Meanwhile, Jean Paul Gaultier makes a triumphant return to ready-to-wear after a decade-long hiatus, with the wildly inventive Duran Lantink at the helm.
The New Names:
Paris continues to strategically court the next generation. Making its official PFW debut is Danish sensation Ganni, bringing its cult-favorite Scandinavian cool to the runway. They are joined by a wave of thrilling emerging talent officially joining the calendar, including the conceptual Belgian label Julie Kegels and the artful Façon Jacmin.
