The Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala Returns With Billionaire Sponsors & Iconic Co-Chairs

The Met Gala, traditionally held on the first Monday of May, has become the world’s most anticipated night of fashion, celebrity, and philanthropy. Established in 1948, the Gala originally catered to New York high society. However, Anna Wintour transformed it in the 1990s into a global spectacle for the rich and famous.
On May 4, 2026, Beyoncé, Venus Williams, and Nicole Kidman will join Wintour as co-chairs. The evening functions as a fundraising event for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Moreover, it guarantees a flood of memorable moments across social media. Stars showcase daring, creative fashion looks each year.
The 2026 dress code has not yet been revealed. Nevertheless, it will follow the Costume Art exhibition, opening May 10. This exhibition explores the concept of the “dressed body” in art across the centuries.
Met Gala 2026 Co-Chairs
Beyoncé, returning for the first time in ten years, previously co-chaired in 2013. Fans and fashion insiders alike are already anticipating the ensemble—or ensembles—she will debut.
Venus Williams, 45, a seven-time Grand Slam champion and still active on the WTA circuit, follows in the footsteps of her sister Serena, who co-chaired the 2019 Gala.
Nicole Kidman, who co-chaired in 2003 and 2005, is preparing for a busy 2026, with projects including Practical Magic 2 and the series Scarpetta.
The Met also announced the gala’s host committee, co-led by Saint Laurent’s Artistic Director Anthony Vaccarello and actress Zoë Kravitz. Additional members include singers Sabrina Carpenter and Doja Cat, retired ballet superstar Misty Copeland, and WNBA champion A’ja Wilson, highlighting a diverse convergence of talent across art, sport, and entertainment.
