The Swedish Brand Transforms Its Palais Royal Boutique Into a Gallery
June 7, 2025- Acne Studios, Acne Paper Gallery, Palais Royal Paris

This summer, Acne Studios trades fashion for fine art with the opening of its first standalone gallery: Acne Paper Palais Royal. The Stockholm-based label has transformed its former boutique inside the Jardins du Palais Royal into a space dedicated to creative dialogue. This add-on concept corner is a full reimagining — a new platform for exhibitions, artist talks, cultural events, and editorial projects curated by the minds behind Acne Paper.
Opening June 25, during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, with an evening celebration in the gardens, the gallery launches with a solo show by Paul Kooiker, one of the most quietly radical portrait photographers working today. The exhibition, titled 2025 Paul Kooiker, will feature 42 portraits of students from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam — a study in youth, uncertainty, and the quiet tension of becoming.
This marks a turning point for Acne Studios, which has long blurred the lines between art and fashion. Now, it gives that dialogue its own address.
A Gallery Built for Cross-Pollination
Acne Paper Palais Royal is more of a curated salon, a place where magazines, books, and visual culture intersect. Designed as a fluid, cross-disciplinary space, the gallery invites fashion, art lovers, and curious passersby to step into the creative ecosystem that has long informed Acne Studios’ world.
While the brand hasn’t released interior visuals yet, the spirit is clear: part literary lounge, part cultural platform. The programming will evolve throughout the year with artist talks, book signings, magazine launches, and rotating exhibitions. The tone will mirror the editorial elegance of Acne Paper, known for its ability to fold together history, visual storytelling, and intellectual curiosity without losing style.
Here, every detail speaks the language of context: art in conversation with its location, its audience, and its moment.
Paul Kooiker’s Portraits Open the Dialogue
For the opening, Acne Studios invited Paul Kooiker to set the tone. The Dutch artist, known for his dreamlike and often disquieting images, presents 42 portraits of art students. The theme is poised between vulnerability and resolve.
These portraits carry the weight of uncertainty. Youth rendered with a tension that feels both personal and generational. In a time marked by flux, Kooiker’s lens captures that liminal space where hope, identity, and existential confusion all coexist.
It’s a fitting beginning for the gallery. A mirror held up to a generation navigating new rules, new desires, and new fears — all in the shadow of tradition.
