A New Wave of African Designers Brings Africa Now‘s Cultural Clarity to the Heart of Parisian Retail This Summer

June 5, 2025- Paris Boutiques and Popups: Africa Now, Galeries Lafayette

Africa Now, Galeries Lafayette

African fashion has momentum—and this summer, it gets an address inside one of Paris’s most iconic institutions. On the third floor of Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, a focused pop-up brings together four emerging designers who perfectly embody contemporary African style looks like in 2025.

This edition of Africa Now, presented by CANEX in partnership with Tranoï, creates an active conversation between local craftsmanship and international relevance. You step into a 90-square-meter space filled with fashion, accessories, and stories stitched into every piece. It’s retail with depth.

Boyedoe (Ghana), Late For Work (Morocco), We Are NBO (Kenya), and Wuman (Nigeria) each deliver a unique point of view: tailoring, jewelry, ready-to-wear, infused with design rigor and cultural fluency.

Four Labels, One Statement

Boyedoe – Structured, sculptural, and shortlisted for the LVMH Prize 2025, this Ghanaian brand is couture-smart with a subversive streak.
Late For WorkYoussef Drissi bends the rules of menswear with experimental tailoring drawn from Casablanca’s raw edges.
We Are NBO – From Nairobi, this label sculpts handcrafted jewelry that doubles as a cultural artifact.
Wuman – Founded by Ekwerike Chukwuma, Wuman pushes Nigerian minimalism into a new, expressive dimension.

Powered by CANEX and Tranoï

Africa Now forms part of the CANEX Presents Africa initiative. An Afreximbank-backed program designed to fund, produce, and globalize Africa’s creative industries. After six successful fashion seasons with Tranoï, this special Parisian edition sharpens the spotlight.

It’s a strategic move. As Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice-President of Afreximbank, explains:
“The continent’s vast pool of creative talent is an opportunity to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation.”
