A TRUE INCARNATION OF THE “BELLE ÉPOQUE” ART & DECO EMERGENCE, PARIS’S HOTEL LUTETIA SETS THE BAR HIGH WITH THE REOPENING OF THE BAR ARISTIDE: A SPEAKEASY-LIKE PLACE WITH JAZZY EVENINGS EVERY THURSDAY

Hotel Lutetia, the only palace on the Left Bank and an icon of its cultural ideology since it debuted all the way back in 1910, sets the bar high with the reopening of Bar Aristide last March. In an avant-garde spirit, this speakeasy-like bar offers a quirky and offbeat spirit, bathed in electronic and alternative jazz music. Designed and decorated by the famous architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte while the mixology is signed by Nicola Battafarano, Head Barman several times awarded.

Jean-Pierre Trevisan, General Manager of the Hotel Lutetia, has a long-standing passion for music – particularly the new wave, indie and electronic scene – and was a DJ in underground Parisian clubs from 1984 to 1988. He personally oversees the hotel’s music programming and, with the arrival of Bar Aristide, has created a new weekly music night, celebrating the German-Pratin spirit in which the Parisian jazz scene has expressed itself since the early 20th century.

The TEMPO! nights will take place every Thursday from 10pm to 2am – in partnership with Tsugi radio – with DJs playing acid jazz, drum and bass, abstract hip hop and jazzy house. “Music follows me everywhere I’ve worked and has always been essential to me,” says Jean-Pierre Trevisan. “This passion will be perfectly expressed at Bar Aristide, which will soon become a reference place for alternative jazz”.

Bar Aristide is an elegant refuge from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Accommodating just 30 guests and adorned with paneled walls, the venue has been decorated with artworks selected by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who led the ambitious restoration of the entire hotel before its reopening in 2018.

Featuring comfortable brown leather sofas, wingback chairs and a small library of art books, it has a real private club atmosphere. Two smoking rooms also adjoin the bar, with an impressive selection of rare cigars from around the world.

Nicola Battafarano, Head Bartender of Bar Josephine (named after Josephine Baker, a historic client of the Lutetia), has created a new cocktail menu for Bar Aristide. The inspiration and flavors come from alternative music albums of the last thirty years, as in his cocktail “Bones“, based on tequila, corn, and spices reminiscent of a Mexican taco, or his cocktail “Cure” combining turmeric, ginger, and Galliano’s liquor.

Hotel Lutetia is a founding member of the Set Collection hotels, a collection of unique modern hotels at the most exceptional addresses in the world’s most dynamic cities. In each, the Group creates experiences that capture the hearts and minds with the spirit and rhythm of their contemporary lifestyles. Currently comprising hotels in Amsterdam, London, Paris, Jerusalem, Beijing, Hong Kong, Chengdu, and Shanghai, it draws on the artistic and imaginative heritage of its iconic and vibrant buildings and cultural venues.
