The Royal Scotsman Hosts a Four-day Journey of Movement, Skincare, and Highland Rituals this June

This June, Belmond X Dior turns the Royal Scotsman into a traveling retreat dedicated to well-being. Departing from Edinburgh, the legendary train traces a slow arc through the Scottish Highlands, where each mile becomes part of the ritual. The route spans lochs, moorlands, and ancient forests, with just 38 guests on board, and every moment grounded in expert care.
Inside the train, Dior introduces its first spa experience on rails, complete with lacquered treatment rooms and a menu of high-performance facials and body therapies. Between stops, movement sets the pace: Pilates with Bryony Deery, nutrition workshops with Rose Ferguson, and menus crafted in collaboration with Chef Mark Tamburrini, designed to align with the day’s energy.
This is a curated rhythm of activity and rest — mornings begin with guided breathwork, followed by loch swims, yoga on quiet hillsides, or wild herb walks led by local foragers. Seals surface along the coastlines. Mist rolls in over the pines. Guests follow the landscape’s tempo, with each activity placed to recharge rather than interrupt.
The Dior Spa Royal Scotsman
Inside the spa car, Dior’s signature treatments integrate into the travel experience. Therapists adjust each session to match the guest’s energy and the changing scenery. The train’s lacquered interiors and tartan accents surround the spa cabins, creating a refined stillness between motion. Guests schedule multiple treatments across the retreat, with time between for deep rest or outdoor immersion.
Key excursions include wild swimming, forest walks, seal-watching, and meditative exploration of ancestral trails. Each route is guided, but the pace remains unhurried. There is no rush — only the rhythm of the train and the landscape outside.
Nights on Rails
At night, the Royal Scotsman shifts to celebration. Ceilidh musicians tune up in the bar car. Guests sample over 50 rare whiskies or enjoy traditional live sets. Two new Grand Suites expand the space with private en-suites. The curated design and dedicated service are designed for those who prefer an added layer of comfort and privacy.
