IN A STUNNING DISPLAY OF BRAND POWER AND HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR, CHANEL BROUGHT THE CALIFORNIA DREAM TO LIFE AT THE PARAMOUNT STUDIOS LOT FOR ITS RESORT 2024 SHOW. THE FRENCH FASHION HOUSE, KNOWN FOR ITS ICONIC DESIGNS AND TIMELESS ELEGANCE, TRANSFORMED THE VENUE INTO A SPECTACLE THAT SURPASSED ALL EXPECTATIONS.

Chanel has once again mesmerized the fashion world with its resort collection, this time staging a breathtaking show at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. The event paid homage to the brand’s longstanding connection to Hollywood and the allure of the California dream.

Sixteen years ago, Chanel showcased its second-ever cruise show in Los Angeles, setting the stage for a future of extravagant presentations. Fast forward to the present day, and the Resort 2024 show at Paramount Studios exceeded all expectations. A star-studded front row boasted names like Margot Robbie, Kristen Stewart, Riley Keough, Issa Rae, and Marion Cotillard, while the legendary Snoop Dogg delivered a memorable post-show performance. It was a true spectacle, showcasing Chanel’s brand power and influence.

Chanel’s history with Hollywood dates back nearly a century. Founder Coco Chanel herself visited California in 1931 and collaborated with renowned directors such as George Cukor and Jean Renoir, creating costumes for their movies. Under Karl Lagerfeld‘s tenure, the brand further strengthened its ties to the cinematic world, forging friendships with Penelope Cruz, Tilda Swinton, and many other actresses.

The Resort Collection drew inspiration from an iconic Los Angeles landmark—the Venice Beach boardwalk. Creative Director Virginie Viard sought to capture the vibrant energy and carefree spirit of the beach scene. The collection reflected a sporty aesthetic, featuring leg warmers, wedge-heel sneakers, running shorts, and swim tanks. It was a departure from Chanel’s traditional elegance, showcasing Viard’s feminine and youthful touch.

The show’s set design further emphasized the Hollywood theme. The models walked on a massive square basketball court adorned with black and white patterns. A giant CC logo took center stage, flanked by two monumental Chanel inscriptions. LED screens displayed scores, simulating a competitive match between Paris and Los Angeles. The collection’s first looks showcased athletic-inspired pieces, with models exuding an Olympic-level fitness. Barbie-esque long hair, high socks, and platform sneakers completed the youthful ensemble.

Throughout the collection, visual nods to Hollywood abounded. CC-branded skateboards and crop tops adorned with the iconic N°5 logo added a playful touch. The show unfolded against a backdrop of sunset and nighttime imagery from the heart of Los Angeles, projected on a giant screen. The immersive experience created an ambiance of Hollywood glamour and California optimism.

The event drew around 900 guests who occupied ergonomic seating, passing through rows of protesters. On one side, anxious G-Dragon and K-pop fans eagerly awaited the show. On the other side, members of the Writers Guild of America distributed flyers advocating for fair treatment and copyright protection. Inside the venue, however, the atmosphere was relaxed, with a K-pop star expressing their admiration for the collection.

Chanel’s resort show at Paramount Studios captured the essence of California’s vibrant and active lifestyle, embodying the chic yet relaxed aesthetic embraced by modern Hollywood stars. From Jane Fonda to Cindy Crawford, the collection celebrated iconic figures who embody the free-spirited allure of the West Coast. With its radiant palette dominated by pink and its shimmering sequined details, the collection exuded a sense of joy and playfulness.
