As Rumors Swirl Around a New Creative Director, the Fashion House Prepares for an Unforgettable Show Amidst Italy’s Scenic Lakes

November 12, 2024 – Chanel Cruise Collection 2025, Lake Como

Chanel’s Next Cruise Collection to Dazzle at Lake Como

And Chanel is off to Lake Como for its cruise collection. On April 29, 2025, the fashion house is going to show its 2025/26 Resortwear on the shores of one of Italy’s most famous lakes. After previous shows in Los Angeles and Marseille, the excitement is palpable. But here is the bottom line: Chanel is in the middle of great change. Virginie Viard turned around and sent shockwaves in June 2024 when turning in her resignation letter. And the chaos began, speculating about who could take over this hot seat. The name on everyone’s lips? Hedi Slimane. The confirmation is yet to be made, but the suspense makes this upcoming event even more alluring.

Chanel remains true to form and is not giving anything away. The brand said in a statement that the show was “more than an invitation to travel,” with the energy and singularity of Lake Como having set it off. No location has been announced, but industry heads are speculating all the same. Lake Como is a muse. Its beauty is the stuff of legend—from its romantic views and glamorous villas that attract the world’s elite. Think, for instance, of Bellagio, jet set playground, or Laglio, home to the fabled villa of George Clooney. It is no surprise that Chanel, along with other luxury brands, stays under the spell of the beauty of this place.

Indeed, Lake Como has recently become the place for events at the highest level. In 2023, Villa Erba, freshly used as a location shoot for Amazon Prime’s Citadel: Diana. Dior also showed its high jewelry collection at the villa. And LVMH made headlines when it snapped up the 16th-century Castello di Urio, adding to its portfolio of luxury properties.

It’s not just Lake Como that’s turning heads. Italian lakes in general are having a moment. Louis Vuitton showcased his cruise collection on Isola Bella in May 2023, one of the Borromean Islands of Lake Maggiore. From fashion to film, the allure of Italy’s lakes keeps mesmerizing the world’s most iconic brands. As we count down to April 2025, one thing is certain: Chanel’s Lake Como show is going to be unforgettable—a blend of fashion, luxury, and timelessness that naturally oozes from Italy’s northern lakes.
