CHRISTIAN DIOR F/W2023 COLLECTION IS A BRILLIANT DISPLAY OF MODERN ELEGANCE THAT PAYS HOMAGE TO THE BRAND’S RICH HISTORY AND ITS CLOSE ASSOCIATION WITH PARISIAN CHIC.

MARIA GRAZIA CHIURI HAS DONE AN OUTSTANDING JOB OF UPDATING CLASSIC DESIGNS AND MAKING THEM RELEVANT FOR TODAY’S FASHION-CONSCIOUS WOMEN, AND THE SHOW ITSELF WAS A TESTAMENT TO THE BRAND’S ENDURING APPEAL AND LOYAL FOLLOWING

Christian Dior has once again left fashion enthusiasts in awe with its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, in which Dior gives a tribute to three French icons – Catherine Dior, Edith Piaf, and Juliette Greco – who represent different facets of Paris, the city that Dior embodies more than any other brand in the world.

The collection is an impressive display of elegance, mostly in black, with spectacular new speckled floral prints that pay tribute to Catherine Dior, the founder’s incredible little sister. The collection also features nods to the classic little black dresses favored by both Piaf and Greco, but with a modern twist that makes them a perfect fit for today’s fashion-conscious women.

The show’s venue was equally impressive, with a monumental work by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos providing the backdrop for the 96 tops that were paraded on the catwalk. The installation, a remarkable series of spheres, balls, and other organic drops of massive proportions, all covered in fabrics, crystals, pearls, and feathers, occupied a huge Dior tent, erected above the largest fountain in the Tuileries Gardens. The setting was resolutely contemporary, which perfectly complemented the modern take on the classic designs that characterized the collection.

But the heart of the action was the catwalk, where Maria Grazia unveiled her first black and white looks, pleated mid-calf skirts and dresses, cinched with thin belts and worn with elbow-length lambskin gloves. The collection also featured mohair tartan sweaters, long cardigans, and trapeze overcoats, inspired by Monsieur Dior’s famous “Adventure” coat, paired with stunning printed dresses that ingeniously revisited Monsieur Dior’s iconic florals.

The show was attended by hundreds of VIP clients from all over the world, all wearing Dior from head to toe, as well as celebrities like Charlize Theron and Maisie Williams.
