A 30-year Collaboration Between Dior and Peter Lindbergh Comes to Life in a New Exhibition at La Galerie Dior

October 21, 2024 – Dior X Lindbergh Exhibition at Galerie Dior

Dior x Lindbergh: A New Exhibition of Iconic Photography at La Galerie Dior

Dior X Lindbergh Exhibition at Galerie Dior, Paris. From From October 17, 2024, to May 4, 2025

It’s time to experience Dior in a new light. The latest exhibition at La Galerie Dior in Paris, Galerie Dior x Lindbergh, is now open, celebrating 30 years of the legendary Photographer Peter Lindbergh’s work. This fashion photography exhibition is a tribute to a unique collaboration between one of the most iconic fashion houses and a photographer who captured its soul.

From October 17, 2024, to May 4, 2025, La Galerie Dior showcases over 100 of Lindbergh’s photographs. Many have never been seen before. Each image tells the story of Dior’s rich history through Lindbergh’s lens. He photographed five different artistic directors of Dior, starting with his first couture shoot for Vogue Paris in 1988. His work brings to life Dior’s designs, adding depth and emotion to the clothes.

A Legacy in Black and White at La Galerie Dior

What sets Lindbergh apart is his signature use of black and white. His photographs strip away the distractions and focus on the essence of each garment. There’s a raw, timeless quality to his work that transforms Dior’s couture into something more—something alive. Whether it’s a classic Christian Dior silhouette or a bold John Galliano design, Lindbergh’s images make them feel immediate and real.

At the heart of the exhibition is his final project for Dior, shot in 2018. It was an ambitious shoot, set on the streets of New York, capturing Dior’s pieces in motion. The contrast between the urban landscape and the elegance of the couture creates a dynamic energy. It’s a perfect example of Lindbergh’s ability to blend fantasy and reality.

Behind the Scenes With Lindbergh

La Galerie Dior x Lindbergh gives you a rare glimpse behind the scenes. You’ll see contact sheets with Lindbergh’s handwritten notes, test shots, and even photos of Lindbergh at work, taken by his son during the 2018 Dior shoot. These details make the exhibition feel personal, like stepping into Lindbergh’s creative process.

Lindbergh once said, “What’s so striking about black and white is how it really helps a sense of reality come through.” You’ll feel that sense of reality as you move through the gallery. The images are not just posed fashion shots—they are moments that breathe life into Dior’s designs.

Dior Through Time

La Galerie Dior x Lindbergh Exhibition also showcases the evolution of Dior’s style. You’ll find pieces from Christian Dior’s original designs, like the famous Tailleur Bar, displayed alongside creations from Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, and Maria Grazia Chiuri. Seeing them through Lindbergh’s lens gives them a fresh perspective, making the old feel new and the new feel timeless.

One standout is a 1948 Cocotte dress from Dior’s ‘Zig-Zag’ line. On the mannequin, it looks like a stunning piece of history. But in Lindbergh’s photos, it’s suddenly modern, vibrant, and full of life. This is the magic of Lindbergh—he transforms fashion into art.
