Dior to Unveil the Pre-fall Collection this April at Kyoto’s Tō-ji Temple
January 17, 2025 – Dior Pre-Fall Show

Dior is bringing its annual pre-fall collection to Japan this April. The show marks a return to the brand’s historic ties with the country. On April 15, 2024, Maria Grazia Chiuri will present Dior’s Pre-Fall Collection in the gardens of Kyoto’s Tō-ji Temple. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its five-storied pagoda and ancient beauty.
Dating back to 796, Tō-ji Temple, surrounded by serene ponds filled with turtles and koi, will set the stage for Dior’s upcoming show. This isn’t Dior’s first foray into Japan. Christian Dior himself introduced his collections to the country in 1953, forging relationships with Kyoto-based artisans and incorporating precious Japanese textiles into haute couture. For Maria Grazia Chiuri, the upcoming show continues this legacy while pushing creative boundaries.
Chiuri described Kyoto as “a city where generations of skilled artisans have perfected their craft, providing a backdrop rich in history.” She also said, “It’s a unique context to reignite creative exchanges and present the upcoming collection.”
The Pre-Fall 2025 line will incorporate Japanese craftsmanship into contemporary designs. This approach adds a fresh perspective to Dior’s signature elegance. By early April, the cherry blossoms will have faded. However, Tō-ji Temple’s lush gardens and serene pond, home to turtles and koi, will still create a picturesque setting.
Dior traditionally reveals its Pre-Fall 2025 collections to the press in December. The runway show aligns with the collection’s arrival in stores, creating excitement for its global debut.
