IN THIS CELESTIAL BALLET OF FASHION, FENDI ‘S BLEND OF SENSUAL CHIC AND COSMIC MINIMALISM LEAVES AN INDELIBLE MARK ON THE WORLD OF HAUTE COUTURE.

In haute couture, Fendi is a symbol of chic sophistication. With its streamlined silhouettes and monochrome palettes, the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, created by Artistic Director Kim Jones, embodies understated elegance with a futuristic twist. Adopting a minimalist approach, Kim Jones weaves sensuality into every stitch, highlighting an incredible mastery of textures.

The runway unfolds with an array of black and white ensembles, exuding effortless simplicity. From calf-length bustier dresses to figure-hugging knit gowns crafted from luxurious cashmere and vicuña blends, to oversized woolen men’s jackets, each piece exudes refined minimalism. Crocodile skin top-and-skirt sets add a touch of exotic allure, also utilized in chic jackets and coats.

Yet, amidst this austere elegance, flashes of sensuality emerge. Sheer veils and silk gazar tunics reveal glimpses of skin, while shibari-inspired lace-up bandeau bras add a provocative edge, encircling the neck and shoulders in a tantalizing embrace. The energy pulsates with shimmering skirts adorned with cascading metallic fringes and sequins, evoking a magnetic allure. These ornate decorations extend to glamorous forearm gloves and select handbags, infusing each ensemble with celestial charm.

A detailed exploration of textures unveils Fendi’s heritage of artisanal craftsmanship, notably honed in the field of fur. Silkily rigid fringes mimic silvered fur in long coats and voluminous jackets, while hand-embroidered feather-light fringes undulate sinuously, adorning bronze-toned skirts and blue-green gowns. Futuristic lightweight glasses and a series of dazzling silver ensembles further amplify the cosmic theme, from gradient crystal-embellished asymmetrical dresses to body-hugging chainmail creations, culminating in a reflective silver spacesuit-inspired ensemble fit for intergalactic travel.

As the show draws to a close, Kim Jones briefly takes the stage. Among the illustrious front-row attendees at the Palais Brongniart are actress Adèle Exarchopoulos and luxury group luminaries, including Fendi CEO Serge Brunschwig and LVMH fashion powerhouse leaders Michaël Burke and Sidney Toledano.
