Dior inaugurates a permanent exhibition, in an extraordinary gallery, completely independent of its monumental boutique, where we find a luxury suite, a Garden of Eden, Monsieur Dior Restaurant, and Café Dior.
The Galerie Dior unfolds like a living museum dedicated to the fashion house and the history of Parisian fashion, in the very place where the great couturier had set up his first workshops.
Here, every single reference to the essence of Dior style is brought together in an enchanting ball, from the New Look to the iconic Corolla skirts.
13 rooms reveal the fabulous history of the House of Dior, like chapters in a book, as we encounter the teeming worlds of the artistic directors, from the young Saint Laurent to the extravagant John Galliano, from Raf Simons to Maria Grazia Chiuri and her committed vision of femininity.
Galerie Dior is where we also cross the silhouettes of the icons of femininity of yesterday and today, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Lady Diana, Sophie Marceau, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Nathalie Portman, Adele or Rihanna. A story of talents and passions that ends in apotheosis with this flamboyant finale, highlighting the most sumptuous evening gowns, among which shine many creations gathered for the first time in Paris.
As in a true behind-the-scenes experience of a fashion show during the Dior era, with videos, sketches and invitations. You can walk over to the models’ workshop, preserved as it was. To rediscover the costumes created for the greatest balls. And retrace the entire history of Christian Dior and his sister, their friendships and dialogues with artists who marked the era such as Picasso, Dalí, Man Ray or Giacometti.
MONSIEUR DIOR RESTAURANT AND LA PÂTISSERIE DIOR
To end this unique journey, Monsieur Dior is the perfect opportunity to enjoy, in good taste, an haute couture dinner party. Designed by Peter Marino, Monsieur Dior Restaurant is the perfect demonstration of a multidisciplinary brand heritage. Created by Chef Jean Imbert – who heads the nearby kitchens of the Plaza hotel, one of Christian Dior’s own canteens.
The menu is full of references to the brand’s heritage with a gastronomic variety centered around the brand “icons”. These signature dishes include the “Colle Noire” soup – featuring herbs from the garden of the house’s historic castle – the “New Look” truffle croque, the “Christian Dior” soft-boiled egg on a bed of caviar, and the “Entrecote-frites du défilé”, the designer’s favorite dish after the presentation of his collections.
