KRUG STUDIO: A SECRET RESTAURANT IN THE HEART OF VOYAGE SAMARITAINE

A few months after the opening of the Parisian department store, Maison Krug reveals an exclusive secret place under the mythical Frescoes on the top floor. This is where Krug has decided to open its very first Krug Studio.

A confidential table, nestled in the kitchens of Voyage Samaritaine, where two-starred chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France Mathieu Viannay joined Jimmy Elisabeth, Executive Chef of Voyage, and Antony Dorland, Assistant Chef of Voyage, to offer a totally new immersive tasting experience. The famous House of Krug has imagined exceptional musical and gastronomic pairings to appeal to all the senses of the tasting and reveal the different aromas of its cuvées. A unique and unforgettable opportunity to discover and savor prestigious vintages by appealing to all the senses in the greatest discretion…

A MULTI-SENSORY EXPERIENCE

Exclusively for La Samaritaine, the prestigious Champagne House Krug has imagined exceptional musical and gastronomic combinations to connect all the senses of tasting, thus signing its great return to this emblematic place of Parisian life after its short-lived restaurant in 2012. By approaching champagne through music, Krug creates an analogy of its know-how in the elaboration of champagne. This unique approach is based on research from Oxford University, which scientifically proves that the musical context modifies the perception of aromas during a champagne tasting.

The musical tasting thus becomes a unique moment where each Krug cuvée can be tuned differently to the notes of a melody. This time, it is in a private room, hidden in the kitchens of Voyage Samaritaine, a place of life and culinary experience located on the top floor of La Samaritaine, that only six guests will be able to live a pure moment of epicureanism at the crossroads of gastronomy, music and the cuvées of the Maison Krug. The experience begins in the intimacy of a musical tasting that reveals the history and unique know-how of the vintages selected for the experience. A digital, musical and immersive moment thanks to the acoustic excellence developed by Devialet. The experience continues with an exceptional lunch or dinner created for the Krug Studio. Each quarter, the Chef and his brigade will propose subtle and creative gastronomic combinations in perfect harmony with the Krug wines.

THE COLLECTIVE TRAVELS FOR KRUG STUDIO

Illuminated under the emblematic glass roof on the 5th floor, in front of the iconic peacock fresco, Voyage Samaritaine Paris Pont-Neuf overturns the codes of the restaurant business. An eclectic 1,000 m2 space that breaks down boundaries, a place where fine cuisine, mixology, the arts, poetry and music meet, with different atmospheres and changing menus to meet your desires throughout the day.

In this constantly changing space, starred patrons invite chefs who are shaping the renewal of international cuisine, to inaugurate the Krug Studio, the double starred chef, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Mathieu Viannay joined Jimmy Elisabeth, Executive Chef of Voyage and Antony Dorland, Assistant Chef of Voyage, to imagine an exclusive menu of 4 to 6 notes, in harmony with the champagnes of the Krug House. To accompany scallops, turbot or sweetbreads revisited by these chefs, Julie Cavil, Cellar Master of the House of Krug and the sommeliers of Voyage Samaritaine, have carefully selected different Editions of Krug Grande Cuvée as well as Les Créations de 2006* in the framework of original food and champagne pairings, for an exceptional culinary experience. Mathieu Viannay, MOF 2004 and chef-owner of the mythical house “La Mère Brazier” with two Michelin stars, is a self-taught chef with an atypical background.

In love with beautiful products and faithful to his local producers, the chef works on intuition. “I cook by instinct, it’s my head that makes my hands work”. At La Mère Brazier, Mathieu Viannay has been able to bring together traditional and modern chefs around his unifying cuisine: it’s a clever mix of classic and very personal ideas. At the same time, he is also the executive chef of the GL events group.

KRUG GRANDE CUVÉE 169TH EDITION – THE STORY OF ITS CREATION

When Joseph Krug founded the House in 1843, he had only one dream: to offer the best champagne every year, regardless of the weather. Recreated each year, Krug Grande Cuvée goes beyond the notion of a vintage. Each year, the House of Krug continues to honor this dream: to recreate the most generous expression of Champagne, by offering its new Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, more than one hundred and seventy-five years after its first creation. Resting in the Krug cellars for approximately seven years gives this Edition its remarkable fullness and elegance. More than 20 years of painstaking craftsmanship went into this Krug Grande Cuvée Edition, which represents the 169th recreation of Joseph Krug’s dream and the 169th most generous expression of champagne.

THE CREATIONS OF 2006 – TWO EXPRESSIONS OF A GREAT YEAR

With the 2006 Creations, the House invites you to discover Joseph Krug’s vision of champagne: two cuvées that express, each in its own way, the greatness of 2006. On the one hand, Krug 2006, which tells the story of the year, and on the other hand Krug Grande Cuvée 162ème Edition, the most generous expression of champagne, composed for the 2006 harvest.
