L’or Bleu, A New Cocktail Inspired by Surrealism
What if a cocktail could transport you to a dreamlike world? This festive season, the Ritz Bar Paris unveils L’Or Bleu, an extraordinary creation by Chef Barman Romain de Courcy, blending surrealism with flavors as poetic as they are unexpected. Available from November 29, 2024, to January 5, 2025, this cocktail pays homage to Paul Éluard’s famous surrealist poem, “La Terre est bleue comme une orange.”
At its heart, L’Or Bleu celebrates the centenary of surrealism, a movement known for its ability to challenge perceptions and spark imagination. Inspired by Éluard’s paradoxical imagery, the cocktail mirrors the poem’s interplay of the senses and the unexpected.
The name itself, “L’Or Bleu,” is a tribute to the “blue gold” of Provence—lavender, renowned for its soothing properties and delicate aroma. Just as surrealism invites us to reimagine reality, L’Or Bleu invites drinkers to experience a fascinating balance of flavors.
