Milan has reopened to the world and now offers a rich program of events for the holiday season. The city, which gave Mayor Beppe Sala a second term in office in the municipal elections, is experiencing a surge in confidence thanks to business and safety improvements. The vaccination campaign is also playing a major role, as the vaccination rate in Milan and Lombardy is currently at a very high 85%.
AN EXCLUSIVE OFFER FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON
In December, Milan invites visitors from all over the world to enjoy the magic of Christmas with the city’s residents. SEA Milano Airports, the Milan airport authority, airlines, hotel associations and Milano & Partners are launching Fly to Milano, a promotional campaign to boost tourism. From December 2021 to March 2022, anyone with a plane ticket (purchased on any website, travel agency or ticketing service) with the final destination Milan Malpensa (MXP) or Milan Linate (LIN) and who has already booked two nights at one of the hotels participating in the initiative, will be able to get an extra night free. There is only one condition to this offer: the first night must correspond to the date of landing on Italian soil.
ART AND CULTURE THROUGHOUT THE CITY
During the holiday season, all the trees in Milan will be illuminated and the main squares in each neighborhood will also sparkle to bring the magic of Christmas to life. In the same vein, the lighting of the first tree in Piazza Duomo, in the heart of Milan, will take place on December 7, the day of St. Ambrose, the city’s patron saint. To prolong the magic of the moment, the Alla Scala theater will launch its 2021-2022 opera season with Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth. Giving us the opportunity to (re)discover this mythical theater whose interiors have recently been renovated to offer spectators a more modern venue with a sustainable concept.
