THIS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2021 HAUTE GASTRONOMY AND THE MOUNTAIN WORLD STILL HAVE A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD OF THEM: ORELLE AND JEAN SULPICE PROVED IT!

For the opening of the 2021-2022 season, Orelle is challenging two-starred chef Jean Sulpice of L’Auberge du Père Bise to cook, at an altitude of 3200m, dinner served in one of the new gondolas in the Maurienne resort.

During his 15 years as Chef of the Oxalys in Val Thorens, Jean Sulpice had to tame the constraints of altitude to offer a modern and inventive cuisine, rewarded by 2 stars in the Michelin Guide. In the high mountains, the products do not react in the same way, as such the usual theoretical benchmarks have to be reconsidered. The temperature of boiling water, cooking time, the evolution of certain products, and the expectations of customers in extremely cold weather are all elements that have prompted Jean Sulpice to adopt new techniques for preparing gourmet dishes.

On December 19, 2021, for one evening, Jean Sulpice will be confronted with an extraordinary challenge: cooking a dinner served in a moving gondola up to the summit of Cime Caron at an altitude of 3200 meters, making this one-night table the highest starred restaurant in the world. Jean Sulpice will be responsible for creating an extraordinary experience, using the natural environment to highlight the products and essences that the gondola will be flying over.

After a winter without ski lifts, Orelle is keen to innovate and offer new experiences to its holidaymakers, who have missed so much. By teaming up with the starred chef Jean Sulpice, the 3 Valleys resort opens the way to innovative partnerships to create magic. The objective is also to promote and bring together, at the beginning of this promising winter season, two sectors violently affected by the health crisis, the mountain and the restaurant industry.
