Printemps Haussmann Marks 160 Years with Primavera’s Historic Art and Design Exhibition

January 30, 2025 – Fashion Art Exhibition, “Primavera, l’Art à la Mode” at Printemps Haussmann

"Primavera, l'Art à la Mode" Exhibition at Printemps Haussmann

Printemps Haussmann celebrates its 160th anniversary with Primavera, l’art à la mode, an exhibition showcasing its rich design archives. Open until April 14, this event takes place in the atrium and at level -1 of the women’s department. Additional highlights are displayed in the store’s windows.

Established in 1912, Primavera was Printemps Haussmann’s pioneering design studio. Its mission was to democratize access to art by offering decorative and furniture pieces crafted by artists and produced in limited series, all with a commitment to French savoir-faire. This groundbreaking approach gained international recognition at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris, which defined the Art Deco movement.

The exhibition presents an eclectic selection of vintage items from the 1920s and 1930s, including furniture, ceramics, glassware, wallpapers, and textiles. These historical pieces are displayed alongside looks from the Spring-Summer 2025 fashion collections for men and women. This innovative pairing highlights the timeless modernity of Primavera’s creations, emphasizing their continued relevance in contemporary design and fashion.

A Journey Through History

You are invited to explore the intersection of art, design, and fashion through a thoughtfully curated scenography. The exhibition celebrates Primavera’s vision of making art accessible while connecting it with today’s fashion aesthetic. The iconic ceramics and elegant textiles reflect the creative spirit that has defined Printemps Haussmann for over a century.

“Primavera, l’art à la mode” is a must-see exhibition to experience Printemps Haussmann’s legacy of innovation and its influence on modern aesthetics. The exhibition runs until April 14, 2025.
