Rome’s Fashion Revival: From Valentino’s Art Exhibition to High-Profile Runways
January 18, 2025 – Valentino Fashion Exhibition In Rome

Rome is reclaiming its status as a fashion capital, with a series of high-profile events and shows set to take center stage this spring and summer. Leading the way is Valentino, unveiling the first-ever archival clothing and art exhibition at the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation in Piazza Mignanelli, next to the historic fashion house.
Valentino: A Legacy Rooted in Rome’s Timeless Elegance
Valentino’s connection to Rome has been a cornerstone of its identity since the Maison’s founding. Established in 1960 by Valentino Garavani, the first atelier on Via Condotti placed the brand at the heart of Rome’s high-fashion district. This prestigious location grounded Valentino in the city’s rich cultural fabric and shaped its signature aesthetic—characterized by elegance, refinement, and timeless sophistication.
In July 2022, Valentino celebrated its Roman heritage with a breathtaking Haute Couture show on the Spanish Steps. The Autumn/Winter 2022-23 collection transformed the iconic landmark into a dazzling runway, merging Rome’s classical architecture with modern couture. This event honored Valentino’s origins while showcasing its evolution as a global fashion powerhouse.
This legacy continues with the upcoming exhibition at the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation, set to debut in late spring. Located in Piazza Mignanelli, next to the Maison’s historic headquarters, the 1,000-square-meter space will showcase Valentino’s archival clothing alongside curated art exhibitions.
Inspired by Valentino’s foundational principles—elegance, refinement, preciousness, and geometric harmony—the project reimagines the Academy’s legacy. Historically dedicated to educational programs and temporary exhibitions, the space is poised to become a global hub for art, culture, and fashion. This initiative not only celebrates Valentino’s enduring ties to Rome but also reinforces its influence on the world stage.
