“HEUREUX SOIENT LES FÊLÉS, CAR ILS LAISSERONT PASSER LA LUMIÈRE” IS AN UNIQUE EXPERIENCE TO DISCOVER AT THE GAÎTÉ LYRIQUE IN PARIS FROM MAY 19 TO JULY 18, 2021

THE EXHIBITION

This summer, from May 19 to July 18, 2021, La Gaîté Lyrique honors visual artist Olivier Ratsi with an immersive and luminous exhibition. “Heureux soient les fêlés, car ils laisseront passer la lumière” (Blessed are the crazy ones, because they let the light in) is a quote from French writer and director Michel Audiard, which is a poetic way of saying that any person is unique in the way they see the world. Paying a tribute to him, Olivier Ratsi “in the manner of an image-maker and a builder” in his own words, created these fabulous installations that leave you wanting to see more.

Spanning two floors and divided into five chapters, the 11 experiments play with movement, light saturation, darkness and color spectrum. In this atypical universe, you will witness a striking and multi-sensorial chromatic journey that will make you question the way you perceive reality.

In this renowned building dedicated to culture and technologies of the future, the artist stages flamboyant neon installations, a misty dark room inhabited by a set of luminous white tubes, a circular stage that gives the illusion of movement and many more. Olivier Ratsi plays on the angles, postures and points of attention to make the visitor part of the art, which makes the experience even more appealing and engaging.
