Zuhair Murad’s Fall/Winter 2021/22 Haute Couture Collection Inspired by the Glorious Culture of Venice and Its Carnival

July 10, 2021- Paris Couture Week Zuhair Murad Fall/Winter 2021/22

Zuhair Murad Fall/Winter 2021/22 Haute Couture Collection

The pandemic and the long months behind our masks inspired Zuhair Murad to create a collection soaked in the spirit of Venice. For his winter 2022 collection, the designer reinvents the panache of the Serenissima where the East is omnipresent. He pays an admiring tribute to the City of the Doges, which fought off invasions and diseases without ever losing its passion for luxury, arts and beauty, its best weapons against any disaster.

In this exclusive collection, we find enchanting jumpsuits with tinsel crystals, long patrician hostesses dresses, oriental princesses caftans, a festival of bare shoulders, and curves revealed through audacious slits and clever asymmetries. The capes and long gloves in embroidered tulle are inspired by the timeless codes of the Carnival. Velvet, chiffon, taffeta, faille and metallic organza reinterpret timeless classics while silver lurex introduces a contemporary note into this magnetic theme.

The iconic molten glass is reflected in the shaded embroideries and the patchwork, indissociable from the spirit of Venice, is captured in an admirable couture interpretation. Scooped collars, asymmetrical necklines, puffed sleeves or capes give this collection a luxury that evokes the festive resistance of a city whose talents, refinement and know-how have been – and remain – the ultimate defense against adversity.
