The 70th BFI London Film Festival takes place across London from October 7 to 18, with gala premieres at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall and screenings, competitions, talks, and special presentations across BFI Southbank, BFI IMAX, and selected West End cinemas. The 2026 programme features 251 titles from 88 countries, including 33 world premieres, with international filmmakers and actors attending throughout the festival.

The festival begins with the European premiere of Elsinore, directed by Simon Stone, at the Opening Night Gala on October 7. The cast includes Andrew Scott, Olivia Colman, Billie Piper, Johnny Flynn, Luke Thompson, Joe Locke, and Juliet Stevenson, with cast attendance expected. The Closing Night Gala on October 18 features the UK premiere of The Debut, directed by Jesse Eisenberg, with Eisenberg and members of the cast expected to attend.

Other gala titles include Danny Boyle’s Ink, Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun, James Gray’s Paper Tiger, Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love, Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine, Susanna White’s Prima Facie, and the international premiere of Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial.

The Ballon d’Or 2026 celebrates its 70th anniversary with its first-ever ceremony in London, bringing the world’s leading footballers, coaches, and industry figures to the London Palladium. Co-organised by France Football and UEFA, the ceremony presents the Men’s and Women’s Ballon d’Or alongside awards for the year’s leading young players, goalkeepers, coaches, clubs, and strikers.

Once a year, Opera Holland Park leaves its open-air summer theatre in Kensington for a black-tie evening at the City of London. Its annual Gala Dinner brings the company to Drapers’ Hall on November 10. The evening features dinner and wine with live opera performed at close range by OHP’s principal artists.

Opera Holland Park is best known for its summer opera festival in Holland Park, where it builds a temporary canopied theatre each season. The Gala Dinner is the company’s only black-tie event of the year and a far more intimate affair. Singers, creatives, and members of the company join guests at the tables, while principal artists perform during dinner.

The evening begins with a drinks reception at 6:15 PM before guests move into dinner. The gala raises funds for Opera Holland Park’s award-winning education and outreach program and its 2027 Season, while a Silent Auction offers prizes and experiences donated by the company’s partners and supporters. Carriages are at 11 PM.

The Global Gift Gala London celebrates its 13th edition on November 15 at Kimpton Fitzroy London, gathering guests for one of the Global Gift Foundation’s signature charity evenings.

The black-tie gala begins at 7:30 PM with cocktails and red carpet arrivals, followed by dinner from 8:30 PM. Live performances and the charity auction unfold throughout the evening, raising funds for the Global Gift Foundation and its philanthropic projects.

Football legend Andy Cole hosts the Andy Cole Fund Gala at The Dorchester on November 25, gathering around 300 guests for a black-tie evening in support of the fund he established with Kidney Research UK.

Cole created the fund following his own experience with kidney failure, dialysis, and a kidney transplant. The gala raises money for research into kidney transplantation and better mental health and wellbeing support for people living with kidney disease. The previous edition raised more than £100,000, giving the night a serious fundraising purpose alongside its place on London’s charity gala calendar.

The evening begins with a Champagne reception before a three-course dinner prepared by The Dorchester’s chefs, accompanied by wine. Live entertainment runs throughout the night, followed by live and silent auctions of exclusive experiences and prizes.

Ballet Icons Gala 2027 is set for February 21 at the London Coliseum, with principal dancers and new-generation talent from The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, La Scala Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Berlin State Ballet, Vienna State Ballet, Bavarian State Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

Now entering its third decade, the annual gala presents a three-hour program of classical repertoire, contemporary choreography, rarely performed works, and new creations, accompanied live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra. The 2027 cast and repertoire will be announced closer to the date.

Following the performance, the program includes a dinner at a landmark London venue within walking distance of the Coliseum.
