FOR THE UNVEILING OF ITS SPRING/SUMMER 22 COLLECTION, MM6 MAISON MARGIELA WELCOMED GUESTS IN LA BELLE AURORE BISTRO IN MILAN – A FASHION SHOW INSPIRED BY AND IN TRIBUTE TO SURREALIST WOMEN IN ART.

MM6 Maison Margiela‘s spring/summer 2022 collection was introduced to guests in the chic and pleasant atmosphere of La Belle Aurore Bistro in Milan. Inspired by a range of women who have made an impact in the realm of surrealist art, the show blends art in all its shapes and disciplines, which are all different yet so connected. More precisely, the three main inspirations behind the showcase were photographer, sculptor and writer Claude Cahun, author and painter Leonora Carrington and painter, printmaker, sculptor, writer, and poet Dorothea Tanning

Checked jackets are at the center of the show, and they’re also the piece of clothing that Claude Cahun used to wear. As we know, Maison Margiela is best known for its deconstructive and avant-garde designs and unconventional materials. Following its usual pattern, the show featured a series of unusual pieces, such as a going-out top made from a roll-up chess board, shrunken leather jackets and boxy denim, as well as a sort of ropy spiderweb, which were all eye-catchy and innovative.

These inspirations extend further to the latest MM6 Maison Margiela x Eastpak collaboration, the full capsule of which will be available next spring. As a tradition, MM6 Maison Margiela also released a limited (50) run of souvenir T-shirts, boasting the same design as the T-shirts worn by house members and La Bella Aurore staff.
