Discover the new Parisian address that has become the talk of the town: Mondaine. A place where luxury meets the spirit of regression and celebration, Mondaine is a neo-cabaret designed by the talented Daphné Desjeux. Eclectic projects and a taste for staging and acting are the signature traits of Desjeux’s work, and Mondaine is no exception.
Paris Society, the group specializing in exceptional places, approached Desjeux to create a setting that would reinvent the universe of the cabaret with a festive place inspired by the life of a socialite of the 1970s. The result is a left-bank apartment hosting great parties where emblematic personalities of the time such as Serge Gainsbourg and Yves Saint Laurent would have met.
Every detail in Mondaine reflects the decadent yet sophisticated lifestyle of the 70s. Desjeux started with carpets, choosing the iconic bathroom carpet of Gainsbourg and the living room carpet of Saint Laurent as the basis for the designs of the furniture, patterns, and selection of colors.
The walls are a great playground, with lacquered green walls in the smoking room, and wallpapers from another time that reveal themselves like treasures hidden under paint and tapestry. The fabrics of the lampshades are also a nod to the era, with leopard creations from Lelièvre, Paon fabric from Nobilis, and plum and red tone-on-tone velvet from Dedar.
Mondaine is a place of curves and roundness, a nod to drunkenness, where one can lose control a little. The whole space is designed with this in mind, including curved balconies in the staircase and a pattern of mouths, breasts, and buttocks that intertwine at the heart of the staircase.
At Mondaine, reality and fiction form a perfect emulsion, creating a parallel world so sophisticated that reality, defeated, prefers to take the tangent. It’s a joyfully crazy and immersive experience where gluttony also plays the role of transgression. The noblest products, from lobster to caviar, lend themselves to sharing, luxury is tasted in festive and regressive mode.
Mondaine is more than just a place to be seen; it’s an extraordinary experience that’s free from rules and conventions, straight out of the 70s, where floats an indefinable sulfurous and arty perfume. Mondaine is where the Parisian night has found a name.
