Gucci Embraces a Unified Runway Format with Three Co-Ed Shows in 2025
November 21, 2024 – Fashion Shows, Italy
Gucci is embracing a unified runway format, presenting men’s and women’s collections together in a cohesive narrative. Starting with the Fall-Winter 2025/26 collection, the brand will showcase three key co-ed shows in 2025: during Milan Fashion Week in February and September, and at the Cruise 2026 show in Florence on May 15. This strategic shift aligns with creative director Sabato De Sarno’s vision of a seamless dialogue between menswear and womenswear.
Gucci’s decision to merge its men’s and women’s shows reflects a return to a format previously seen under Alessandro Michele in 2017. This move creates a synchronized storytelling approach, fostering a constant conversation between masculine and feminine aesthetics. According to Gucci, these three major events will embody “a coherent, elegant narrative, thoughtfully crafted in every detail,” as envisioned by Sabato De Sarno.
The triptych begins in February at Milan Fashion Week with the Fall-Winter 2025/26 collection. It continues with the Spring-Summer 2026 showcase in September and culminates in the Cruise 2026 collection in Florence. These shows promise to deliver an elevated experience, offering a singular platform for the brand’s artistic vision.
Gucci’s shift to a co-ed format comes amid ongoing restructuring within the Kering-owned house. The brand has faced a challenging period, with sales dropping 26% in the third quarter of 2024 to €1.64 billion. Recent leadership changes, including the appointments of Stefano Cantino as CEO in October and Valérie Leberichel as communications director in December, signify a renewed focus on reinvention and growth.
By consolidating its shows, Gucci aims to create a more impactful presence on the global stage while offering a unified message to its audience. This decision mirrors broader trends in the luxury fashion industry, with brands like Fendi also adopting co-ed formats. Fendi will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special co-ed show in Florence this January, further solidifying Florence as a key destination for iconic fashion events.
