Courrèges, the iconic French brand known for its futuristic designs, made a powerful comeback with a show that left the fashion world in awe. As someone who has been following the brand for years, we couldn’t help but be blown away by the stunning presentation.
The designer, Nicolas di Felice, created a mesmerizing atmosphere with a pale gray quadrant and walls of steam that surrounded the models, making them appear to emerge from an urban fog. The futuristic theme continued with models sporting stretch leather thigh-high boots that went up to the groin, paired with cocoon coats and jackets in leather, latex, plaid wool, and patent plastic.
What impressed us the most was the designer’s decision to move away from Courrèges’ signature quilted plastic material in favor of more casual fabrics such as fresh wool and stretch or lighter leathers. The collection featured circular jewelry, amulets, and earrings that perfectly reflected the brand’s DNA.
The final looks were nothing short of spectacular, with beautiful semi-sheer tops and long slit skirts with trains, and a series of mini evening dresses that displayed the brand’s name in large letters. The designer’s confidence was evident in every piece, and there were no fashion faux pas or less successful pieces in the entire collection.
The show’s soundtrack added to the overall experience, starting with voices in rush hour and ending with a stunning remix of Otherlover’s Backchat. As the models emerged one last time from the thick fog under a huge clamor, we couldn’t help but feel excited about the future of Courrèges.
