AFTER SEVERAL VIRTUAL FASHION WEEKS, IT’S FINALLY TIME TO LET THE ENERGY AND BEAUTY OF CATWALKS COME BACK TO LIFE!

It’s all set: Dior’s next cruise show will take place in Athens on June 17, and it will feature unique pieces from their brand new collection. This event will be the opportunity to celebrate 200 years of independence for Greece, the country in which Christian Dior, the founder of the house, had first unveiled his 1951 Autumn-Winter collection. This new show will be a tribute to the absolute iconic photoshoot that was captured at the Acropolis during this particular event, 70 years ago – as seen in the gorgeous picture above.

As stated by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s artistic director for women’s haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessory collections: “Greece is a country that has always been close to my heart. (…) As a native of Rome, to me, it is an essential and highly inspiring cradle of culture, literature and creation in all its forms. From mythology to the ‘Odyssey,’ and from architecture and philosophy to priceless crafts, Athens for me represents a dream destination for staging a show and celebrating, more than ever, the magic and transmission of cultures.” The choice of location also aims to highlight the creativity of local artists and craftsmen, who have been particularly affected by the Covid crisis, by featuring them at the event – and that’s a choice that we can only praise!

There are no details about the collection that will be presented or the exact location for now, but we just can’t wait to hear more about it! So what do you say, Greece in June it is?
