A COLLECTION THAT ILLUSTRATES THE INTANGIBLE WAYS CLOTHING MAKES US FEEL! HOW THEY RELATE TO OUR BODIES, AND WHY THEY REMAIN THE ULTIMATE VEHICLE FOR EXPRESSIONS

Marie-Christine Statz, GAUCHERE‘s Founder and Artistic Director, was inspired for the Spring/Summer 2022 Ready-to-wear Collection, by a conversation with Miren Arzalluz. When Miren was first introduced to GAUCHERE, she immediately felt and understood the designer’s vision to create clothing for people looking to express their identity and mood. This has led Miren to interpret Marie-Christine’s vision for the GAUCHERE collection in her own words.

“It’s so powerful when you feel an intimate connection with your clothes, like you both become one and the same. They allow you to express exactly what you want to say to the world about yourself at that moment. It protects you where you need it most; helps you through challenges, difficulties, successes and dreams. It’s a suit of armor that is fluid, protective and liberating.” says Marie-Christine Statz.

We see in this collection whites, sand, vanilla and warm caramel shades dominate the color palette. This light range is accented by a bright pea green and complemented by darker shades such as navy, midnight blue and black. The Maison’s monochromatic suits offer powerful contrasts: wools are mixed with sheer fabrics.

Shiny silk is combined with dry cotton. Open woven linen jackets have elaborate, angular shoulders that transform into organic, rounded shapes. They are paired with bras and pants with extra-wide pleats. Crochet, sequin and petticoats are paired with delicate lace tops or oversized shirts with lace appliques, curved button plackets, patched panels or pleats.

A deep V-neckline is featured throughout the collection on tops, dresses, and collarless, buttonless vests and jackets. Flowing dresses and tops feature long slits and open backs. Soft asymmetries are created with fabric bows and rounded cutouts. Drapery forms different silhouettes defined by the body.

GAUCHERE Spring/Summer 2022 Collection

The 37 looks of the Spring/Summer 2022 Collection were filmed at the Palais Galliera. The architecture of the Neo-Renaissance Palace with its broad, monumental windows, paved courtyard, semicircular peristyle and glass & steel roof offered the perfect backdrop and settings for this collection.

GAUCHERE is a French prêt-à-porter house founded in 2013 by the designer Marie-Christine Statz. Her vision is to create garments that point out the individual. At the heart of GAUCHERE is the art of tailoring, the appreciation of materials as they are and the translation in pure geometric structures and sculptural volumes. Marie-Christine’s intuitive designs are expressing the mood of today while aiming for permanence and timelessness.

The GAUCHERE community is progressive. It is an active participant in today’s society. “Live and let live” is not just a phrase for them but an attitude towards life.
