Elie Saab Brings a Touch of His Haute Couture Magic to Riyadh With a Mega Fashion Show
Elie Saab is bringing his magic to Riyadh this November. Known for opulent, dream-like designs, the legendary Lebanese designer unveils “The 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab“, a dazzling showcase fusing Middle Eastern heritage with haute couture flair. Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, Saab’s vision for this night will transport us on a fairytale-like journey.
Set to open Riyadh Season, The 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab Show will debut on Wednesday, November 13, at 8 p.m. at The Venue, a newly established multifunctional space for concerts and exhibitions located an hour’s drive from central Riyadh. Recently, The Venue hosted the 2024 Six Kings Slam, a tennis tournament featuring stars like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Carlos Alcaraz, with Jannik Sinner emerging as the winner.
Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, Saab‘s new collection reinterprets classic tales through a modern, lavish lens, bringing Arabian heritage to life with his signature touch of elegance and luxury. The collection will include Saab’s iconic gowns adorned with intricate beadwork, flowing silhouettes, and rich fabrics—perfectly crafted to appeal to the region’s elite and international guests alike.
Carine Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris and celebrated stylist, will curate the show’s styling. Known for her bold “porno chic” style, Roitfeld brings a contemporary edge to the presentation, complementing Saab’s timeless elegance while pushing creative boundaries. This marks a distinct departure from the traditionally understated aesthetics seen in Saudi fashion, promising a unique fusion of global and regional styles.
Spanish dancer and choreographer Blanca Li, renowned for her hip-hop influence and Parisian base, will stage a live performance integrating movement, music, and haute couture. The evening will commence with a red-carpet arrival, followed by a fashion show segmented into multiple thematic scenes. These tableaux will be interspersed with live international performances, though the names remain undisclosed. Saab has hinted at “a phenomenal surprise” befitting the grandeur of the event, leaving guests anticipating a memorable experience.
The 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab is part of the broader Riyadh Season festival, a significant event in Saudi Arabia’s capital known for its extensive lineup of cultural, entertainment, and sporting activities. Established in 2019 as part of Saudi Vision 2030, Riyadh Season has become a hub for international and regional talent, spanning domains like sports, music, cinema, and fashion.
