After conquering New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles, Vogue World 2026 is heading to Milano on September 22 to inaugurate Milan Fashion Week SS27 Ready to Wear Season. Anna Wintour's traveling spectacle finally arrives where it belongs: the capital of making, the city where handmade tradition meets tomorrow's machine.
The show takes over Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the "living room of Milano," the glass-vaulted arcade between the Duomo and the Teatro alla Scala. For one evening, the arcade becomes a monumental stage. This is the fifth edition of Vogue World, the five-year-old event that turns cities into runways and runways into historical moments.
Across four previous editions, Vogue World raised more than $7 million for local creative education and community programs. This year, the funds flow toward Milanese initiatives supporting artisan trades, design skills, and cultural preservation. A committee of Milanese institutions will select the beneficiaries alongside the Municipality of Milano. Prada, Alo Yoga, and Eli Lilly and Company back the 2026 edition as sponsors.
Handmade Meets Artificial Intelligence
The theme of Vogue World 2026, "Where The Future Is Made By The Hand," names the tension directly. Milano built its reputation on the hand: the tailor's needle, the leatherworker's blade, the embroiderer's needle threading gold.
Every button, every seam, every fold in an Italian atelier carries a maker's signature, unrepeatable, slightly imperfect, entirely human.
Now artificial intelligence enters the frame. Vogue poses the question the industry keeps sidestepping: what survives when a machine learns five centuries of artisanal knowledge overnight? Milano answers first.
The show unfolds through a series of thematic acts, tracing Renaissance brocade through industrial wool, digital imagery through textile. Italian maisons, master artisans, and international talent carry the dialogue between hand and machine across the Galleria floor on September 22.
The Road to Milano
Vogue World began in New York in 2022 with a street fair through the Meatpacking District, supporting the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. London followed in 2023, raising £2 million for British arts organizations.
Paris raised the scale again in 2024. Place Vendôme became a runway through a century of French fashion, staged just ahead of the Olympic Games. Chanel, Schiaparelli and Dior joined a cast that included Serena and Venus Williams, Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny. Proceeds supported Secours Populaire, helping families access the Olympic and Paralympic Games and sports equipment.
Last October, Vogue World: Hollywood moved inside Paramount Pictures Studios. This time, fashion met costume design, with work by Ruth E. Carter, Colleen Atwood and Catherine Martin honored on the runway. Nicole Kidman, Julia Garner, Gracie Abrams and Doja Cat joined the production, which raised $4.5 million for the Entertainment Community Fund. Now, the fifth edition comes to Milano.
Who's Behind the Curtain
Vogue World: Milano answers to a small, specific team, led by Francesca Ragazzi and Anna Wintour alongside major creative figures.
Juan Costa Paz, of the Paris studio Convoy, holds Artistic Direction. Lady Amanda Harlech leads Fashion Direction, a name tied to Chanel and Christian Dior for decades. Judith Clark, who teaches fashion and museology at the University of the Arts London, serves as curator.
Marco Balich, of Balich Wonder Studio, runs Executive Production, the same studio behind the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics ceremonies earlier this year. Marie Julie Craeymeersch, of Mode and the Moon, oversees overall production direction alongside him.
