Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Aston Martin Is Back Where It Belongs

Speed has always needed a witness. And for over a century, Breitling has been the one keeping time. The Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team marks Breitling's return to Formula 1 after several decades away, this time through a partnership with Aston Martin Aramco, and it arrives not as a precision instrument with a very clear point of view. Limited to 1,959 pieces, the number references the year of Aston Martin's first Grand Prix test. Every detail on this watch earns its place.

The Watch That Was Always Built for Speed

To understand this Navitimer, you need to go back to 1907, when Founder Léon Breitling presented the Chronographe Vitesse, capable of measuring speeds up to 250 miles per hour with enough precision that the Swiss police adopted it to enforce speed limits. Forty-five years later, the Navitimer arrived, designed for aviators, with a circular slide rule calculating speed, time intervals and fuel consumption. And in the 1960s, Formula 1 drivers and aviators Graham Hill and Jim Clark wore it on the circuit, transposing its functions from the sky to the track. This watch has always lived at the intersection of speed and measurement. The Aston Martin edition simply brings it back to its natural habitat.

Titanium, Carbon Fiber and Aston Martin Racing Green

This Navitimer inaugurates the use of titanium in the collection, a material rarely used by the Maison on this iconic model. The 43mm case measures just 13.69mm thick and weighs significantly less than its steel counterparts, making it as comfortable on the wrist as it is precise in function. The carbon fiber dial, borrowed from the language of racing cockpits, carries a ribbed texture that catches the light differently at every angle. Indexes and hands are treated with reinforced Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in low light, a shared requirement of racing drivers and trackside timekeepers alike.

The strap in textured leather evokes competition harnesses. The colorway, Aston Martin Racing Green with lime green accents, directly references the Aston Martin Aramco livery. And through the sapphire caseback, the Manufacture Breitling Calibre 01 reveals itself: a COSC-certified movement with column wheel and vertical clutch, wound by a tungsten rotor with matte black PVD coating bearing the Aston Martin Formula One Team logo. Two engravings on the caseback complete the picture: "One of 1959" and "Instruments for Drivers."

Breitling, Aston Martin and the Long Game

The trajectories of Breitling and Aston Martin have crossed regularly for over a century. In 1965, Actor Sean Connery wore a Breitling Top Time in Thunderball, the first watch ever modified by Q in the James Bond franchise. Aston Martin's DB5 appeared in the same film. Together, these two objects helped construct the visual language of technical elegance that defined the 1960s and has never really gone away.
