Known for his whimsical and show-stopping designs, Christian Siriano showcases his collection each season at New York Fashion Week. This year again, the designer – who was trained by icons Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen – fascinated his audience with an array of colors and silhouettes, as well as a surprise performance by Marina Diamandis. But in this show, the spotlight was shared with another creative vision: that of Luminous Diamonds®, a pioneer in fluorescent diamonds that celebrate the individualistic spirit of each woman.
In what was the largest-ever display of diamonds on the runway, the SS22 Christian Siriano collection featured a variety of Luminous Diamonds® creations, including a one-of-a-kind fluorescent diamond tiara, created especially for the collection. The tiara contains striking geometric figures connected by fluorescent stones that glow blue under UV light, revealing a hidden design.
To create this collection, Siriano was inspired by vintage photos of his grandma in the 60s and 70s on vacation in Positano. Hence the Sicilian-style lace gowns and the sublime apricot hues used on dresses and asymmetrical suiting, that all echo the Italian lifestyle of that time. Above all, the show aimed to celebrate the female form, enhanced by the dazzling jewelry pieces that all symbolize the drive and passion of women, and their journey to find their inner light.
