Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche is set to captivate audiences once again with the announcement of its highly anticipated annual spectacle for 2023: “Entre Chiens et Louves” (Between Dogs and Wolves). Following the success of the immersive theater production “Au Bonheur des Dames” in 2022, the boldest of department stores collaborates with the renowned contemporary circus company, Cirque Le Roux, for an exclusive creation.
The unprecedented performances of this fusion of circus, comedy, and cinema will take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening from September 1st to December 30th, 2023. An extraordinary show will also be held on December 31st for New Year’s Eve.
“Entre Chiens et Louves” continues the tradition of Cirque Le Roux, whose work gracefully blends diverse cultural and aesthetic genres since its remarkable debut in 2014. The company’s previous productions, “The Elephant in The Room” (2015) and “La Nuit du Cerf” (2019), nominated for the Molière Award for Visual Creation in 2020, captivated audiences with their dreamlike and often tragi-comic universe.
Set in the enchanting atmosphere of Le Bon Marché, closed for the night, “Entre Chiens et Louves” depicts the intertwined destinies of three characters living in the same apartment at different times: 1850, 1960, and the present day. Despite being separated by centuries, they share their doubts and confront an inevitable change.
“Entre Chiens et Louves” is both a journey through history and a thrilling spectacle that combines poetry and acrobatics. The play illuminates human relationships and celebrates the diversity of bodies. Here, there is no circus tent, but a sleek and majestic set erected around the central escalator, allowing the 8 circus artists to travel through different eras seamlessly.
Contortion, balance games, Russian bar, and acrobatic lifts, all accompanied by expertly crafted machinery, bring to life this spectacular voyage through collective memory. Each tableau unfolds, unleashing the audience’s imagination and transporting their minds alongside the performers.
Tickets for “Entre Chiens et Louves,” can be purchased on the Le Bon Marché website. The performance lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes, with doors opening at 9:00 PM.
