Threads of Impact: A Collective Manifesto of Arab Creativity

November 3, 2025- Threads of Impact Fashion Exhibition by Fashion Trust Arabia, Doha

Under the vast light of Doha, within the minimalist walls of M7, a powerful conversation unfolded last week, one stitched in silk, sequins, and memory. Threads of Impact, presented by Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) in collaboration with M7, is a reclamation of narrative, identity, and space.

On view through January 3, the Threads of Impact exhibition marks seven years of FTA, the nonprofit that has quietly and then loudly redrawn the map of Arab fashion. Curated by Omoyemi Akerele, the visionary behind Lagos Fashion Week, the showcase brings together more than 80 designers from across the Middle East and North Africa.

Seven Threads, One Vision

Akerele’s curation masterfully orchestrates a series of visual conversations. She has structured the exhibition around seven distinct threads: Sculpted Forms, Artisanal Legacy, and Conscious Constructs. These elements create a guide through the multifaceted landscape of contemporary Arab design: The framework elegantly contrasts the architectural silhouettes of Morocco’s Mohamed Benchellal with the intimate, hand-embroidered storytelling of Lebanon’s Salim Azzam. It creates a dialogue between the monumental and the personal. The bold shoulders of an Andrea Wazen heel stand in conversation with the delicate filigree of the Mukhi Sisters’ jewelry.

The result is a palpable energy and a sense of a movement hitting its stride. The names here are no longer just emerging. They are arriving. The collections of Kazna Asker, Yasmin Mansour, and Sabry Marouf demonstrate a sophisticated confidence and a fluency in both their cultural roots and the global language of fashion.
They explore Conscious Constructs, embedding sustainability into the very fabric of their work. They also present luxury through the lens of Urban Contemporary. This is fashion that is deeply anchored yet decisively forward-looking.

Doha as a Cultural Crossroads

Beyond the dazzling objects themselves, Threads of Impact solidifies Doha’s position as a crucial incubator for global creativity. The exhibition serves as a cornerstone of Qatar’s “Evolution Nation,” an 18-month program celebrating fifty years of the nation’s cultural development. By placing this fashion moment within a larger national story of artistic evolution, the show argues convincingly for the medium’s power as a serious cultural force.

Ultimately, the story told within M7’s walls is one of ecosystem building. FTA’s seven-year investment in mentorship, funding, and global exposure has yielded its most potent harvest yet. It has produced a generation of designers who are defining the region’s aesthetic.
Threads of Impact is their collective manifesto, a proof that the most compelling futures are built on the richest of traditions.
