Paris Art Week 2026: The VIP Guide to Art Basel Paris and Beyond

Paris Art Week 2026 begins before the doors of the Grand Palais officially open. Collectors arrive early, galleries stretch their programs into private dinners and late openings, design runs into historic hôtels particuliers, and invitation-only previews begin several days before the public fair. At the center of it all sits Art Basel Paris 2026, but knowing when to go, which access actually matters, and what to book around it is where the week becomes interesting.

Art Basel remains the week’s center of gravity, and 2026 lands with a different energy. It is the first Paris edition under Karim Crippa, with more than 200 galleries filling the Grand Palais and a noticeably broader mix of established international dealers, younger programs, and first-time exhibitors.

The main Galeries sector carries the blue-chip weight, while Emergence turns toward younger galleries and artists. Premise is where the fair becomes more curatorial, allowing tightly conceived presentations that can reach back before 1900 instead of following the usual contemporary-fair formula. More than 60 participating galleries now operate a space in France, another sign of how firmly Paris has repositioned itself within the international art market.

The calendar starts on October 20 with the Avant-Première, reserved for galleries and their principal clients. Preview Days follow on October 21 and 22, with the public Vernissage on the evening of October 22 before the general opening on October 23.

Art Basel also brings back Oh La La! on October 23 and 24, when participating galleries temporarily change selected presentations around a theme chosen by a guest collaborator. The fair’s Public Program continues across Paris for its fifth edition, with Miu Miu returning as official partner.

For deeper access, Art Basel’s Premium Connection program moves beyond the daytime fair. The 2026 program includes a private visit to the studio of an internationally established artist outside Paris and a midnight tour of the Grand Palais after closing, when the public has left, and the fair is seen with an expert guide.

Step Into Design Miami Paris

On October 20, Design Miami Paris settles into L’Hôtel de Maisons, the 18th-century mansion on rue de l’Université once associated with the Pozzo di Borgo family and later Karl Lagerfeld.

The first day is reserved entirely for invited guests: Members Preview from 10 AM to 3 PM, followed by the Collectors Preview from 3 PM to 7 PM. The fair then continues through October 25.

Collectible furniture, lighting, decorative arts, and contemporary design run through salons, staircases, the courtyard, and gardens. For 2026, Design Miami pairs gallery presentations with Design at Large, special projects, talks, and an expanded VIP program under the theme Resonance, exploring memory, craftsmanship, and the way objects carry cultural histories across generations.

It is one of the week's strongest moments if your eye moves easily between art, interiors, architecture, and collectible design. The mansion gives the pieces room to live, and the preview keeps the scale intimate enough actually to look.

Moderne Art Fair at Place de la Concorde

From October 22 to 25, Moderne Art Fair takes over temporary pavilions on Place de la Concorde, bringing nearly 60 galleries across modern art, contemporary work, and collectible design into one of the most central stops of Paris Art Week. The VIP calendar begins a day earlier, on October 21, with a private preview from 2 PM to 6 PM, followed by the vernissage from 6 PM to 10 PM, both by invitation.

For 2026, Henri Jobbé-Duval takes the artistic direction, bringing decades of Paris fair history with him. He helped launch the FIAC in 1974 and later worked across Art Paris, Révélations, and La Biennale, giving this edition a particularly strong connection to the evolution of the city’s art market.

Go to the Bourse de Commerce for Remember Me

Away from the fairs, Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection has one of the strongest museum exhibitions of the season.

Opening October 7, Remember Me brings together around 700 works by more than 70 artists in a major exhibition devoted to photography, timed to the bicentenary of the medium. Alongside it, Barbara Kruger takes over the Rotonde and its 24 vitrines with The History of Tears.

That makes the Bourse much more than a filler between fairs. During Art Week, it becomes one of the obvious stops, especially if you want a museum-scale counterpoint to the commercial side of the Grand Palais.

At Fondation Louis Vuitton, the autumn exhibition turns to Gustave Fayet, collector, painter, and one of the figures who helped shape some of the most important early collections of modern art.

Gustave Fayet, Collectionneur – Créateur. Icônes de l’art moderne opens October 9 and continues the Fondation’s series on great collectors after Shchukin, Morozov, and Courtauld. Works by Van Gogh and Gauguin already appear among the exhibition’s announced highlights, while the show examines Fayet both as a collector and an artist in his own right.

Catch the New Season at Palais de Tokyo

Palais de Tokyo times the opening of its new season almost perfectly with Art Basel. On October 21, the institution launches an entire group of exhibitions built around the idea of territory, including new presentations by Sonia Gomes, Ali Cherri, Valérie John, Rose Lowder, and a large group exhibition.

The fairs may dominate daylight, but Paris Art Week never ends at 7 PM.

Galeries Bartoux has turned its Art Basel-week Art Party into a recurring collector evening on Avenue Matignon, built around new collaborations, new works, and artists in attendance. Previous editions have sold out, with Bruno Catalano, Andrea Roggi, Michel Bassompierre, Lorenzo Quinn, Roberta Coni, and others joining the evening.

Nearby, White Cube Paris presents Tracey Emin from October 19, with new paintings and bronze works timed directly with Art Week, while Hauser & Wirth Paris turns to Alexander Calder the same week.

Across town in the Marais, David Zwirner presents Oscar Murillo: Unfinished thinking: Paintings and Social Maps from October 19, adding another major gallery opening to the week.
