Giuseppe Zanotti Revives a Legend: The Slim Returns with a Parisian Twist

This week, no presentation captured Milan’s attention like Giuseppe Zanotti’s celebration of one of his most legendary creations: The Slim. A video installation at his Renaissance-style palazzo on Via Monte Napoleone highlighted a half-dozen examples of this ultra-sexy shoe, famously worn by Samantha Jones in a sizzling sushi scene in Sex and the City. The moment turned The Slim into a viral fashion icon, cementing its place in pop culture.

The story of The Slim begins at Slim, Zanotti’s favorite seaside spot in Cesenatico, Italy. Here, during a casual dinner, he sketched the first design on a napkin. A discarded fishbone became the inspiration for a sensuous, jewel-like strap that drapes elegantly over the foot. Reflecting on its impact, Zanotti mused, “Who would have thought it could have so much influence?”

The event also introduced an exclusive collaboration: The Slim x Moreau Paris. Drawing on the heritage of the venerable Moreau Paris, founded in 1882, the capsule transforms the house’s micro-check monogram into leather sneakers with a denim-like appearance. The result is an eclectic fusion of Italian sensuality and French craftsmanship.
