Louis Vuitton Las Vegas Gets Two Exclusive Capucines

Louis Vuitton has given its newly renovated Las Vegas flagship something far more interesting than new walls. Two Capucines Mini bags are available exclusively at The Shops at Crystals, including a Wild Roses edition that requires 75 hours of embroidery. The Maison unveiled the two-level store in late July, but for anyone already familiar with Louis Vuitton's increasingly elaborate Capucines, the real reason to look twice is sitting inside the handbag department.

The Capucines Mini Wild Roses Is All In The Embroidery

Seventy-five hours go into the flowers alone. Louis Vuitton layers tulle, sequins and beads over calfskin until wild roses appear across the Mini, with gold-tone LV initials tucked into the design. Look closer, and the petals lift away from the leather, while sequins catch the light between them. The bag comes with its usual top handle and a removable strap.

Next to it is the Capucines Mini Icone, the second edition reserved for The Shops at Crystals. Both keep the compact proportions of the Capucines Mini, but the Wild Roses is the one that explains why this particular store deserves a mention outside Las Vegas.

Louis Vuitton Is Having Fun With The Capucines

The timing makes sense. Louis Vuitton has been getting increasingly adventurous with the Capucines, using the familiar shape for some of its most elaborate handwork.

This year's Artycapucines with Takashi Murakami takes things considerably further. One Mini is covered with more than 100 hand-polished resin mushrooms over mirrored canvas. Another turns Murakami's Mr. DOB into a three-dimensional bag, complete with tentacles. The classic Capucines is still there, of course. So are the BB and MM. But the Mini has become particularly good territory for the pieces collectors will talk about.

What Else Is Inside The Las Vegas Flagship?

Quite a lot. The renovated Louis Vuitton flagship now covers two floors, with women's leather goods, accessories, beauty, watches and high jewelry downstairs. Ready-to-wear and shoes have their own salon, separated by handmade macramé screens. Then a 24-foot wooden staircase climbs beneath the skylight to men's collections, travel and personalization upstairs.

Alex Israel's electric blue FIN (TRUE BLUE) holds court on the women's floor, joined by new commissions from Ky Anderson, Elise Ansel, Isadora Capraro, Aaron Garber-Maikovska, Julia Powers, Fabio Severino and Mika Tajima.

And since this is Las Vegas, the trunks get their moment too. Louis Vuitton brought out a Malle Coiffeuse and Malle Cigare, plus a custom Casino Trunk created specifically around the city. The store may have the new staircase and the art collection. We would still head for the Wild Roses first.
