Milan Fashion Week: Prada Fall/Winter 2026-2027 Peels Back Every Layer to Find the Truth Underneath

There is a particular kind of intelligence at work when a collection opens with comfort and then slowly, deliberately, takes it apart. Prada Fall/Winter 2026-2027 show this Milan Fashion Week began with exactly that; soft knit pullovers, multicolored scarves and the visual language of being looked after. Then, as the show progressed, the collection began to fray. To tear. To reveal. What felt like warmth at the opening became something far more complex by the final look, a meditation on what we carry inside ourselves and what eventually, inevitably, surfaces.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons called it in their show notes: "internal changes, visible on the exterior." Sixty looks, each one decomposed to reveal new possibilities through layering. It was, as Simons described backstage, about assembling elements that feel contemporary without demanding a fixed narrative. "It is above all a question of sensation, of inspiration, and of bringing together elements that feel contemporary, but not necessarily very narrative," he said.

Bella Hadid, one of fifteen models on the runway, embraced Miuccia Prada's hand with visible enthusiasm after the show. The crowd outside the Fondazione Prada had their own stars to celebrate, Thai actor Pond Naravit and Korean K-pop star Wooyoung, both dressed in Prada, drawing screams that rivaled anything happening on the runway. Inside, front row, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan watched the whole extraordinary unfolding in silence.

Built to Break Open

The standout pieces told the story best. A pink satin dress tore open at the bodice, pushing a sleek black corset into the light. Exaggerated pink cuffs erupted from under heavy knit pullovers, demanding attention. Faux fur lay flat against the chest like an oversized brooch, tactile and unexpected. Voluminous knitwear tucked into sheer skirts. Animal print fragments broke through black silk, barely contained. And everywhere, scintillating linings caught the light through deliberate slashes in the fabric, as if the clothes themselves refused to keep their secrets.

Simons described the process as instinctive, "with the heart, with the mind, with feelings." On the runway, that translated into something rarer than concept. It translated into desire.

Fondazione Prada staging made the concept physical. Pink and white walls dressed with elegant wood paneling and marble fireplaces, classical and composed on the surface. But beneath the moldings, exposed brickwork pushed through, raw and structural, refusing to be entirely covered. Interior and exterior. Finish and foundation. The clothes and the set were telling the same story.

Six Years In, Still Surprising

Prada Fall/Winter 2026-2027 is a collection about the gap between how we present ourselves and what we actually contain. It is generous enough to suggest that what lies beneath is worth revealing, and confident enough to make the unraveling look like the most considered thing in the room. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have been working together since 2020. This felt like their most personal statement yet.
