Rome’s Cinecittà Hosts Saint Laurent’s Iconic Parthenope Costumes
December 19, 2024 – Fashion Exhibition, Rome
Step into Cinecittà si Mostra in Rome and explore the exciting world of Parthenope. Inaugurated on December 14, the iconic studios showcase the stunning costumes from Paolo Sorrentino’s latest film. The box office hit, with over a million entries, owes much of its striking visuals to the creations of Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent.
The exhibition brings you face-to-face with intricate designs by Carlo Poggioli, realized under the legendary French fashion house. Highlights include the breathtaking pieces worn by Celeste Dalla Porta and Luisa Ranieri.
Prepare to be amazed by Celeste Dalla Porta’s silver georgette gown, embroidered with crystals, radiating sophistication. The unforgettable black satin evening dress, with its plunging neckline and thigh-high slit, paired with a ribbed faux-fur brown coat, commands attention. Luisa Ranieri stuns in a gold lamé cape and matching gown, channeling the glamour of Hollywood’s golden age as her character, Greta Cool.
Another standout is the jewel-encrusted ensemble worn by Dalla Porta during her scene with Peppe Lanzetta. Inspired by the Treasures of San Gennaro, the costume features a bishop’s mitre, necklace, and belt, all handcrafted by Pikkio, a master jewelry atelier for cinema and theater.
Gary Oldman’s white linen suit is designed by Cesare Attolini, the Neapolitan tailoring house has crafted masterpieces since the 1930s, dressing icons like Marcello Mastroianni and Clarke Gable. The suit’s timeless refinement complements Oldman’s character and the film’s storytelling seamlessly.
This collaboration underscores Anthony Vaccarello’s vision of using fashion as a powerful tool for cinematic storytelling. Last year, he launched Saint Laurent Productions, the first film studio established by a luxury brand. Parthenope is one of its debut projects, with costumes brought directly from Paris. These designs highlight the inseparable connection between couture and cinema, a tradition deeply rooted in film history.
