Super Japon 2026 Brings Tokyo’s Konbini, Beauty and Food Culture to Le Bon Marché
August 31, 2026
Le Bon Marché Dedicates Seven Weeks to Contemporary Japan, Here is What to See and Book
For seven weeks, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche is turning its Rue de Sèvres address into a showcase for contemporary Japanese fashion, design, beauty and gastronomy. Running from August 29 to October 18, 2026, Super Japon begins with the konbini, Japan’s ubiquitous neighborhood convenience store, and expands the idea across the Paris department store with Japanese brands, limited-edition collaborations, a handroll bar, beauty treatments, tastings and workshops. The program continues across the street at La Grande Épicerie de Paris and overlaps with Paris Design Week from September 10 to 19.
Start at the konbini
The ground floor borrows the logic of a Japanese konbini, filling the space with objects you might pick up during a walk through Tokyo. LOFT, the Japanese stationery and lifestyle retailer, supplies notebooks and stationery. Manga and books sit alongside fashion, tableware and design objects. Aki, the Japanese bakery and pâtisserie on Rue Sainte-Anne, brings its pastries to the store, while Paris-based Japanese food specialist iRASSHAI stocks pantry products, condiments, snacks and sweets.
Shupatto brings its foldable shopping bags, Ceramic Japan its tableware and Tamanohada its soaps, alongside incense, koinobori, small ceramics and objects sourced for the event. Hello Kitty and Friends meet the Care Bears in an exclusive Le Bon Marché capsule spanning clothing and accessories, available for the duration of Super Japon.
Eat at Doki Doki, then book a tasting
On the second floor, Doki Doki has installed a handroll bar serving sushi, onigiri, drinks and Japanese sweets. The Paris restaurant, founded by restaurateur Romain Taieb, specializes in handrolls made with crisp nori, warm vinegared rice and fish prepared to order.
Sake tastings are scheduled for September 7 and October 13 at 6 p.m. A Japanese whisky tasting takes place September 15 at 6 p.m. Mochi-making workshops begin September 16 and continue on selected dates through October 14. Tea ceremonies run through October 10.

See Japan through Paris Design Week
From September 10 to 19, Super Japon crosses into Paris Design Week with a separate route through the Maison spaces above La Grande Épicerie de Paris.
Here the subject shifts from Japanese products themselves to Japan’s influence on contemporary design. Le Bon Marché is bringing together more than 30 brands and designers through furniture, objects and exclusive pieces, with the program beginning with a Paris Design Week opening night on September 10.
Save October 17 for Japanese fashion at auction
The final week introduces an event for fashion collectors. From October 13 to 17, Paris auction house PENELOPE’S presents a selection devoted to major Japanese designers on the second floor of Le Bon Marché. Founded by fashion specialist Pénélope Blanckaert, the auction house will display the pieces ahead of a live sale on October 17 at 3 p.m.
