The Cygnus carriage, a Belmond luxury train, designed by Oscar-nominated Film Director Wes Anderson, Known for his whimsical big-screen depictions of vintage locomotive travel. Anderson has turned art into reality with the unveiling of his reimagined carriage aboard the legendary train.
The Grand Budapest Hotel filmmaker, who is known for having one of the most distinctive styles in cinema today, has successfully translated his on-screen world into an immersive reality. Unmistakably Anderson, the car features a perfect balance between the historic preservation of the Art Deco-inspired train interior and contemporary design. The distinctive symmetrical lines, unique color palettes, and deco style combine to create a travel experience usually reserved for the big screen.
The train maintains a generally green monochromatic look in the carriage with a green-patterned fabric on the couches. The pop of color comes in the form of a cheeky pink ceiling that adds a bit more fun to the dark-wood interior. The bespoke design also introduces an elevated guest experience, with two new elaborate private coupés in the train car. These private spaces can be reserved for up to four people, with champagne flowing throughout the journey, as well as cocktails and a contemporary British menu served on special tableware, with additional touches from British Pullman‘s head chef.
