Chanel continues its tradition of pairing iconic destinations with extraordinary fashion experiences. On April 28, 2026, the Parisian Maison will present its Cruise 2026/27 collection in Biarritz, a historic seaside resort on France’s Atlantic coast.
Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel’s Fashion Activities, emphasized the city’s significance: “Biarritz plays a fundamental role in Chanel’s history. We are thrilled that Matthieu Blazy has chosen this destination, so dear to the Maison, to unveil his first interpretation of the cruise collection.”
The announcement comes just a week after Matthieu Blazy’s widely acclaimed Métiers d’Art show in a decommissioned subway station in southern Manhattan, showcasing the designer’s modern approach to tradition.
Biarritz has long shaped Chanel’s vision. In 1915, fueled by the success of her boutique in Deauville, Gabrielle Chanel established her first couture house at Villa de Larralde, a neo-feudal residence in the city. There, she opened a boutique and atelier with some sixty seamstresses, presenting her collections in a space infused with freedom, sportiness, and elegance, qualities that continue to inspire the Maison today.
