Fendi Baguette 26424 Re-Edition Lands as a Collector Drop in Milan

In 1997, Silvia Venturini Fendi created a bag and gave it an internal code: 26424. It tucked under the arm, sat close to the body, and became one of the most recognizable objects in fashion history. Nearly thirty years later, Maria Grazia Chiuri brought it back. This Milan Design Week, Fendi unveiled the Baguette 26424 Re-Edition at Palazzo Fendi Milano, anchoring her debut chapter at the Maison around the one object that needed no introduction.

Chiuri was part of the original Fendi team when the Baguette first appeared. Bringing it back now is a continuation of something she never truly left.

Fendi Ships the Baguette Like a Work of Art

The presentation at Palazzo Fendi Milano begins with custom wooden crates. Built in the spirit of traditional art shipping cases. Suspended from the ceiling on a movement system, they trace the journey of the Baguette through the Maison's atelier and across nearly thirty years. A video installation alongside reproduces the artisanal rhythm of the Fendi workshop, from the first cut of leather to the finished piece. Each bag arrives inside its own bespoke wooden crate, with stencil detailing, fastened with a canvas belt and metal buckle. The crate becomes part of the collectible on its own.  

Fendi Builds 20 Versions of One Icon

The Baguette 26424 Re-Edition unfolds across twenty variations. Six available exclusively in Milan. The silhouette stays true to the original: softer construction, refined under-the-arm wearability, same proportions. Chanakya, the Mumbai-based embroidery house that has worked with Fendi since 1997, brings extraordinary craft to several pieces.

Aari, a hooked needle technique for continuous surfaces. Zardozi, a fine needle technique for detailed embellishment. A Fendi tiger motif in raffia with chain stitching. A cascading sequin surface that moves like a waterfall across the leather. Mirrored sequins and hand-beading complete the picture. Twenty ways to carry the same conviction.
