Vogue Italia and Kering Cue Cinemoda 2026 for Milan Fashion Week

Remember Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy dress in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Or Maggie Cheung's cheongsams in In the Mood for Love? Statement costumes stay with us long after the credits roll. This Milan Fashion Week, Vogue Italia and Kering are putting that relationship between fashion and cinema back on the screen with the second edition of Cinemoda 2026.

For two days, 12 feature films will fill Milan's historic Cinema Arlecchino. The selection moves between cult films, auteur cinema and documentaries. Specifically chosen for the way fashion and costume shape a character, an image, and sometimes an entire era. Screenings include talks and conversations, with experts and Vogue Italia editors introducing each film.

Cinema Arlecchino Sets the Scene for Cinemoda 2026

Cinemoda's first edition was launched during Milan Fashion Week in 2025 with 36 films across three historic Milan cinemas. The programme jumped from Breakfast at Tiffany's and In the Mood for Love to Marie Antoinette, Funny Face and Mademoiselle C, the documentary following Carine Roitfeld. Hubert de Givenchy's black dress became inseparable from Audrey Hepburn's Holly Golightly. Wong Kar-wai used Maggie Cheung's changing cheongsams almost like another clock inside In the Mood for Love.

This year, Vogue Italia and founding partner Kering cut the programme down to 12 feature films and put everything inside one historic cinema, Cinema Arlecchino. Located A few steps from the Duomo, opened in 1948 and is now the last single-screen cinema in central Milan. Even its original interiors came with serious Italian names. Lucio Fontana created the Harlequin mosaic that originally hung in the entrance, while Piero Fornasetti contributed to the cinema's design.

Chiara Mastroianni At the Director Seat

Chiara Mastroianni joins Artistic Director Gian Luca Farinelli to shape this year's selection. Farinelli directs the Cineteca di Bologna and returns after overseeing Cinemoda's first edition.

Mastroianni brings a rather personal relationship with both cinema and fashion. She is the daughter of Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni, two faces almost impossible to separate from 20th-century European cinema and its style.

This year's 12 films will follow her tastes and curiosities. The idea is to move through memorable films and costumes, but also the directors, costume designers, fashion designers and actors responsible for them.
