A square-folded shirt slips into dress territory without losing its original identity. Dresses fold back on themselves to expose their construction, while tiny Henleys, washed peacoats, and abbreviated shorts introduce an almost doll-like sweetness MM6 rarely courts so openly.

Menswear, Slightly Off-Center

Menswear plays the same game with a straighter face. Shirt collars and button plackets drift toward the side, tuxedo stripes appear on the inside of trousers, and Martin Margiela’s familiar low-crotch trouser comes back slimmer and sharper. Double belts and displaced details keep everything just slightly wrong, which is exactly where MM6 tends to get interesting.

For its Havaianas collaboration, MM6 takes the maison’s fixation with the number six and makes it literal: six flip-flop soles stack together into one exaggerated platform, while other versions divide the thong construction between the toes. It is absurd, witty, and completely on brand.

Accessories follow the same irreverence. Leather gloves turn into handbags or five-toed shoes, while the Soft Bauletto folds under the arm almost like a garment. The familiar keeps slipping into another role, but never so far that the original object disappears. That is the charm of MM6 SS27. Nothing needs a grand reinvention. Sometimes fashion is more fun when a shirt simply refuses to behave like one.
